From electrical mechanical and civil branch you can apply for railways in engineering post.These three branch have same value.Butechanical and electrical have more chances.

My personal suggestion would be to join. Mechanical, electrical or civil. You will have a decent number of chances if u opt for any one of the branches.But then choosing these branches without having any interest in it will not help you in any way .So explore ! Analyse which branch interests you ,go for it.

If your aim is railways then there are a lot of opportunities for you but that depends on you that which part you would like to go for.

But personally I feel that you must go for mechanical or civil as there are more chances and vacancies.
