It's all depend on your interest and passion for high job salary cs is good option there is not so much scope of core branch in India

When you are talking about course then the first name which comes into my mind is computer science engineering . Now the list of top 5 courses after CSE are
1. ECE
2. Mechanical
3. Electrical
4. IT
5. Civil

If you want more money then cse or it is best option and if you want government job then core branches. If you wanted to be an ies then mechanical and civil are the best core branches.

Every branch is good it depends on your interest in which branch you are interested......but according to placements CSE/IT Would be the best option......so think twice before choosing a branch...best of luck.
