The teaching profession in India requires comprehensive training to gain expertise in the field. To enter in a school, you should have a Bachelors in Education (B.Ed) degree. Various colleges or institutes across the country offer this degree. After B.Ed, one can do masters M.Ed.

Diploma in Education (D.Ed), Basic Training Certificate (BTC) and Teacher Training Certificate (TTC) are other courses that can help you get a teaching job.

In case, if you want to be a physical fitness instructor or games, then you will require a certificate/ degree or diploma from any one of the sports colleges located around the country.

If you want to become a teacher for primary and secondary levels in government and state schools as well as unaided private schools, you should appear for Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), conducted by CBSE.

Colleges and Universities across the country use different approaches. After completing the post graduation, one can become a specialist by doing M. Phil. or Ph.D. To become a college lecturer, you will have to clear the NET exam conducted by the UGC(University Grants Commission) but it is not always a necessity.
