ECE involves more of networking technologies, Communication and Internet Protocol, Network management, Cyber security, Digital Analytics, etc.

IT Involves more of Application management and development, Database management, Cloud Computing, Business intelligence, MIS.

Both if have good scope, buT ECE holds an edge as opportunities are immense with Programs like Digital India and has handsome remuneration being offered if done from top NITs and IIITs.

IT too has great scope but is limited to bulk opportunities by large dominate players like Accenture, TCs, Infosys and with very basic roles like Software testing and hence nakes it less lucrative compared to ECE.
