Academy of Technology and Narula Institute of Technology both are among the top private Engineering colleges of West Bengal. However, Academy of Technology is affiliated to State Technical Board i.e. MAKAUT but Narula Institute Of Technology has become autonomous under JIS Group. Apart from this, there is not much difference in the academics. But Academy of Technology has tie ups with various IT companies and Google is one of them who has collaboration with Academy of Technology. It is quite difficult to differentiate them as the placement Statistics are almost same. More than 50 IT and core software companies such as TCS, Capgemini, Cognizant, Infosys, Deloitte etc come for recruitment of IT engineers. Last year, around 87% students from AOT's Information Technology branch were placed in top IT Firms while the placement for Narula Institute of Technology was not so impressive. Also in 2017, Academy of Technology was ranked 8th after Jadavpur, IIEST, IIT Kharagpur in state ranking because of it's placement record.
