To become a scientist is your own passion and interest. Also, your post graduate and PhD matters most in becoming a scientist. Though, Bsc (Hons) is accademically more valuable than a normal BSc degree. To get a BSc Hons degree you would be asked to write a dissertation, while this is not much recommended in an ordinary BSc degree. This type of methodology, makes the degree more valuable and prepares you to think from a scientist point of view. 

Alternate case, you can also take up an ordinary BSc degree and develop your skills in paper writing and submitting for journals.
