Banking exams can be less time consuming and more structured, leading to a stable job faster. MBA is broader, offers higher long-term growth, but requires more investment, effort, and risk.

If you want quicker stability → Banking.

If you want higher growth & flexibility → MBA.

Hi,

In my opinion you should go for Banking exams.

First, let’s discuss the career option of becoming a PO (Probationary Officer) in a PSB (Public Sector Bank):

  1. You start off from the position of Assistant Manager on Probation.
  2. Starting salary is good.
  3. You’ll enjoy the work in your starting days as everything would be new to you.
  4. You surely would enjoy the leased accommodation and other perks.
  5. A sense of achievement prevails.
  6. The first Recurring Deposit opened from your own salary will always be special to you.
  7. Social Prestige is unparalleled.
  8. You’ll pass the JAIIB and CAIIB in a matter of 1–2 years and be eligible for promotion as per your bank’s norms.
  9. You’ll become a Branch Manager and have a lot of financial discretion and authority (believe me, once you sit on that elusive Branch Manager’s chair you won’t like anything else!!!)
  10. Life goes on as usual and you retire happily with a fat seven figure (or even more!!!) bank balance.

Second, the career option of pursuing an MBA (Masters in Business Administration)

  1. You work really hard and get through CAT to secure admission in a tier 1 college in India.
  2. You meet many like minded people on campus. Friendship grows, ideas converge, synergies peak and voila a startup is born.
  3. You land up a six figure job post college and have a side hustle (your startup!!) as a secondary source of income.
  4. Mint money till 40 and then take a quick retirement.
  5. Go around the world, enjoy life, gain experiences and then back to corporate at 60 as a management guru!!!!
  6. Mint money further!!!

Choice is yours.

Without any doing much after becoming a PO is also a good option. Because till that position you have already secured your life. Growth opportunity is also very good in psu banks.

Hope this helps.

All the best.
