Hi,
     Look it depends upon which stream you are taking in engineering. So, as I have the knowledge almost all streams, so that I'm shareing you the stream wise subject important. Look in 1st year syllabus is same for all branches. So In 1st year to have to read the basics - physics, maths, computer science, basic electrical etc ; doesn't matter from which stream you are. But always keep that in your mind, when you are doing engineering, physics & maths is must. Almost in all streams you have to read 2year onwards (much or less, it depends on the streams).

Now 2 year onwards stream wise( I'm shareing the top streams) -

CSE - Computer Science & basic electronics
IT - Computer science ( programming)
ECE - Core Electronics & computer science, management
EEE - Electrical, Electronics & computer science
EE - Electrical, Electronics, Computer science, some sort of mechanical
ME - Based on mechanics mainly, electrical
CIVIL - all kinds of mechanics (soil, oil, earth, survey etc), drawing
Chemical Engineering - Chemistry related basically & also have the knowledge of physics
EIE : Electronics, Management
