Hello aspirant,
The reaction of NaBr and H2SO4 results to the formation of Br2 gas as a product. Molecule (b) that is C—O bond is more stable and hence will not react with Br2 gas because of the stable molecule that is formed due to resonance stabilization. As resonance permits for delocalization process, in which the overall total energy of a molecule is decreased because the electrons present in it occupies a greater volume, hence molecules which faces resonance become more stable than others which do not. These molecules are known as resonance stabilized.
Hope this helps,
All the Best!!
