1. Total marks will determine your rank. When more than person has the same total marks, number of negative marks shall determine the relative rank between them 2. Try keeping your negatives to the minimum, while solving MCQs. If you are confused about an answer, keep it for later to be solved, that is once you have attempted all questions that you are sure of. Guess work is never an inteliigent option in entrance tests. It is a common notion that attempting more questions can help cover up the negatives, which is grossly wrong. With negatives you will be taking away the credits for all the correct answers. One negative can cause a huge change in your rank, you may also lose out on your desired college. hence, work smart. work hard. All the best :)

Hi Purnima,

In entrance exams like NEET ug, it is very important to score as less negative marks as possible as while ranking your negative marks are considered in case of a tie. Therefore less the negative marks higher will be your ranking.

And it is very important as your ranking will make you get a good medical college in your state. You may miss out on your dream college even by 1 ranking.

Also you will notice that if your negative marks is less you total marks will also improve. Try it out once while practising the previous years question papers. Therefore don’t attempt to answer a question you are not sure about. It is better to leave it.

hope this helps. Keep working har.  All the best for your upcoming exams. :)

I preffered low negative with high marks.
But you can go with less negative with less marks.

Good luck.

But isn't it gonna drag my rank to lower?

No. Because if you attempt more question the probability of getting questions correct is low.
While its opposite for questions attempted less. As you are confident in those questions , so have attempted.

Good luck..
