See both are equally good if you want to do a job in government sector then you can also become a government lawyer or you can go for various government jobs like ias , ips , ifs , ies , professor , etc. But it is necessary to crack government exams in order to go for a grade A,  b or c service . Whereas in law you can also become a private lawyer and if you have done law from a good institution then there are chance that you will get a good salary package .
So at last it all depends upon your interest both you are equally rewarding and important so choose wisely.
