First of all, AI is a science in which a machine is programmed using mathematical and logical theories to exhibit human-like intelligence.

Machine learning is a subset of AI where a machine is trained using data of high variance to make predictions about similar data without actually programming for each outcome.

Although there is a difference between both the things, a machine learning expert would also be an expert in AI as they have a parent-child relation. Hence, an ML course and AI course cannot be compared and need to done simultaneously or in order.
