Hello dear 

The first governor of RBI was Osborne Smith .He was governor of RBI from 1 April 1935 to 30 June 1937 .i.e he was governor for RBI for 821 days and current governor of RBI is Shaktikanta Das who became governor on 12 December 2018 and he has background of being an IAS officer.

Since the inaugration of RBI in 1935 The First officeholder was the British banker Osborne Smith,who was appointed on 1st april 1935, while C. D. Deshmukh was the first Indian governor..who was appointed in 11 august 1943..

After Independence the first governor was Benegal Rama Rau..Who was appointed on 1st July 1949.
