The various groups in CCMT counselling stand for the branches from which the applicants have done their B.E or B.Tech. and the GATE paper discipline that they have given to be eligible for admission. Generally group 2 or g2 has high cut offs as they involve students of core branches like mechanical, chemical, etc and hence, the number of applicants in this group are high,so the cut offs are also high.
