How do i prepare for CAT on my own

Ankur Dubey Student Expert 28th Jun, 2019
Hello

Lot of books, youtube videos, dozens of mocks and a hell lot of self motivation.

Books will give you a basic understanding about the various topics and concepts. Youtube videos(Bakliwal tutorials, genesis mentors.etc) might help when books become too boring or you need better explanations of the concepts. You might also try pagalguy.com and join groups related to the topics of your interest. You will have to manage your time on your own. Try to give some time daily or weekly for this preparation. Then comes a lot of practice followed by lots of mocks 2 months before CAT.You can get old mocks by time or cl on the net or on pagalguy. They are useful too. Testfunda mocks are good and not that expensive.Lot of content is available on internet for free. You just have to find it

I hope it will help you
Good luck....

What is the best time to prepare for cat

rehan18alam Student Expert 28th Jun, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

It depends upon how good your basics are. If you have decent basics then 6 months period is enough. However, if you do not have a good and clear base then you might be needed some more than that.

For engineers, it is considered that 6 months period is enough. Try to get your basics clear in the first two months and then join a good mock series in the month of August. Give your mocks consistently and analyze them.

Hope this helps.

GOOD MOCK:- Iquanta, CareeerLauncher, etc.

What is the best time to prepare for gate

NACHIKET MOGHE 29th Jun, 2019

Students generally start preparing for GATE after 2nd year. But it's not necessary, you can start before or after that. The logic behind that is, that you get 2 years to study, and prepare for the exam, and another year if you want to re-attempt. Even if you don't want to join a class for GATEs, I think you should still go and enquire in a class, about the process in detail, they can solve all your doubts easily and for free because it's their business, and then you might even want to join the class based on the information. So all the best!

I am having doubts while solving JEE Mains Q, and even after 3-4 attemptsI am not able to solve them. But as I see solutions,I grasp easily.

Arpit Agarwal 28th Jun, 2019

Thanks for A2A borther

Well, after analyzing your situaton, I would recommend you to have

1. Better grip over the formaulas which are commonly used. Might be you are slipping with formaulas that's why you are not clicking with the solution by yourself

2. To pay more attention at your coaching classes. Many good teachers, tells you the tricks or tips of finding the appropriate method by observing the question.

3. To give more time to your preparation. Generally, these problems arises in the start of your JEE studies as brain is not habitual to analyze the stuff bit deeply. I would recommend you to be patient and devoted to your preparation, as sooner or later you will be solve the complex problems at no time

Thank You

Hello Aradhna Tiwari !

Here are 10 tips to increase your chances of cracking CLAT-

  1. You cannot learn a thing you think you know ( - Poets of the Fall) - approach every problem as if it’s going to be a learning experience. Don’t refuse to learn from it assuming you already know all knowledge it has to offer.
  2. Don’t let the fear of scoring bad in mocks or any other form of assessment demotivate you from assessing your progress - it is vital for you to track how good/bad you’ve been doing.
  3. Don’t fear experimenting in your approach while taking mocks, this will help you develop an approach which best suits you.
  4. Be thorough with your GK and current affairs, don’t let work pile up, study every single day. Don’t go through them as a burden, go through them as if you’re reading a story.
  5. Take good care of your health during your preparation and eat a healthy nutritious diet. Do take proper rest, don’t deprive yourself of sleep. Health>Studies, only if you’re healthy you will be able to study efficiently.
  6. Strike a perfect balance between speed and accuracy in your mocks, there is an inverse relation between the two, so be careful and don’t focus too much on one of them.
  7. Dream big! If you set your goals ridiculously high and it's a failure, you will fail above everyone else's success. — James Cameron.
  8. Don’t measure the duration of your study session. I see many people committing this “sin”. What matters is your quality and your temperament while you study, not the hours you can sit with a book in front of you.
  9. Word hard play hard - Wiz Khalifa. Work, and also enjoy yourself, play some sport, read a book or a short story, hang out with friends, listen to music, etc. Studying all day long is counter productive. Take gaps, and do something constructive.
  10. This is not limited to your CLAT preparation, this applies to life in general, don’t let any Triumph or Disaster (If by Rudyard Kipling)affect you, neither positively nor negatively, don’t form an opinion about yourself in your mind after succeeding or failing.

Bonus tip - and apparently, this is the most important tip I can give you from my personal experience- practice, practice, and…… um…. practice. Inculcate a habit of practicing your various aptitude related questions every day. Have an abysmal diet for problems.

Good luck!
