Reading or studying it once wont do anything as you'll forget it in a short lapse of time. So thorough study on regular basis should be done. My score is 113. Is it wise to drop out for the second time and prepare for CLAT?

Apurva anand 14th Jun, 2019

Hello Banshita, well it depends on whether you are getting any good NLUs or not. It depends on your category. If you are not satisfied with your marks this year and not getting any decent colleges and if you think you can score better next year then you should take a break of one year.

Which institute is better for GATE preparation Made easy or Ace academy for ME in Pune city

chandni nandy 14th Jun, 2019

Vallabh, both of these institutes are good. Both of the institutes have experienced staffs and provides good notes. There are few important parameters that you can consider before going for a particular institute.

1. Location: You can go for the one that is nearer to you. In that way, you can save time and allocate that time for self study.

2. Fees: You can also consider this point while taking a decision.

3. Coaching vs Self Study: Please note that any institute can guide you on how to crack GATE, but it will be your hard work and dedication that will actually help you to crack it. Hence, clear your concept, make a strategy and give mock test regularly to understand where you are lacking and you need to improve.

Tips to crack Gate:

1. Set Goals & Make a Plan : Whenever you start, make a monthly. quarterly and half-yearly plans. Set goals for each month and check if you have met the goal at the each month.

2. Strategize: First, know about your strong and poor points. Make time for the poor points more each day and clear your concept. For eg: If you decide to study 3hrs a day, then you can allocate 2hrs to learn things you are not confident about or you are not good at. Your poor points needs more attention than your strong points. And the rest 1hr you can allocate to your strong points.

3. Mock Test: Give mock test regularly to understand what you are not good at and at the things you are good at. Make a note. And repeat No 2.

4. Time Block: Allocate time for a particular topic each day. Focus on that topic only. Remember, practise makes a man perfect.

5. Be confident and motivated: Confidence and Self motivation is the key to reach a goal. Hence be confident and self motivated.

What is the best time to prepare for cat?

Ankur Dubey Student Expert 14th Jun, 2019
Hello

Aspirants must remember that CAT is an aptitude exam. Though there is no officially defined syllabus, from past years papers, we can surmise that the CAT Verbal section comprises primarily of verbal ability and reading comprehension, and the Quantitative Aptitude section comprises of high-school level Maths. The Logical Reasoning has no specific syllabus, and comprises primarily of logical puzzles and sets based on logical reasoning. It is highly recommended that aspirants go through the complete syllabus of CAT and the recent exam pattern, both of which would give you a fair about what is asked in the exam, and in what way that thing is tested in the exam.

By thoroughly examining CAT Syllabus and the CAT Exam Pattern, you will get a fair idea about where you stand as of now and how much effort you will have to put in to cover the syllabus. Different students might have to start off at different stages, depending on their academic background. For instance, an aspirant with engineering background will have less ground to cover in Quantitative Aptitude, but might find the verbal section a bigger challenge. On the other hand, a English Literature graduate would feel much at home as far as the verbal section is concerned, but might find the Quantitative Aptitude a far bigger challenge.

Instead of looking for standardized answers, a first-time aspirant should download the CAT Syllabus and previous years CAT papers, and go through them, minutely examining the topics that are tested in the exam.

Nevertheless, it is always possible to define a timeline for CAT preparation, regardless of your academic background.

Nine months of preparation time should be enough for anyone to successfully crack CAT exam. Here are a few things that you must keep in mind:

Dedicate the first five months of your prep working on the basic conceptsDedicate the next one month practicing a variety of questions of varying difficulty levels.Dedicate the next one month writing sectional tests and working out a fine balance between speed and accuracyDedicate the last two months writing as many mocks as possible

The timelines given above are just a suggestion. There are students who might start writing sectional tests and mock tests simultaneously or even five months before the actual exam.

I hope it will help you
Good luck...

I have 3 years to prepare for CAT . How should I start my preparation to get into Top B-schools in first attempt ???

mdsameenabanu Student Expert 14th Jun, 2019

HI,

I would like to divide CAT preparation in three broad areas:

Prepare for Basic Fundamentals

Improve with practice

Sharpen your test taking skills

As you have lot of time ,i would recommend not to lose interest and focus daily atleast two to three hours so that you can crack the exam and also try to concentrate and do all the section like english, quants, resoning on daily basis ,,dnt stick to one section as it may cause bordom

20% of your time – Reading books, novels, magazines, newspapers..

25% of your time – Basic fundamentals of Quantitative Aptitude. Be clear with all the necessary concepts and formulas.

25% of your time – Basic fundamentals of Verbal Ability. Try and understand the concepts of grammar. Learn what Critical Reasoning is all about. Try to differentiate between statements, assumptions, conclusions, facts, inferences, judgments. These things can get really confusing at a later stage if your basics are not clear.

30% of your time – This time should be spent practicing some easy Logical Reasoning, Data interpretation, Reading Comprehension questions. This will help you understand what these sections are all about. It will also help you increase your comfort level with these areas.

You have many online sites ,you can refer for preparation too

GOOD LUCK
