How is the preparation for jee mains different from boards

pratyush 28th May, 2019

JEE preparation and boards preparation are completely different, and require very different skills. Here are some of the major differences:

  • Curriculum width: JEE syllabus includes the curriculum for two years (Class 11th and Class 12th), while the boards only has the curriculum for Class 12th. By the time you are at the end of Class 12th, you still need to be very well prepared with Class 11th syllabus for JEE, while it does not matter at all for the boards. Some topics included in JEE syllabus are not even a part of the school curriculum.
  • Curriculum depth: JEE curriculum goes into much more conceptual depth compared to the boards. While you can do well in boards by just learning a few formulas, JEE preparation requires you to have a very good insight into the concepts involved.
  • Preparation time needed: JEE aspirants need to study almost everyday for at least two years if they wish to perform well in JEE. Boards, on the other hand, does not really need more than a month of preparation.
  • Similarities with previous papers: When it comes to the boards, many questions are either the same or very similar to the questions from previous years. This is because you cannot really come up with drastically different questions every year. So mugging up the answers of previous papers helps in the boards preparation. For JEE, while some of the questions might be similar to previous years, hardly any question is repeated. And you need to really understand the concept very well even for the questions which are similar.
  • Perseverance: JEE is a marathon. You need to be very motivated to consistently keep studying and performing well for two years! Boards, on the other hand, do not require such a huge amount of perseverance.

In my opinion, if someone is very well prepared with the JEE syllabus, boards are actually a cakewalk. I had not touched the NCERT books till one month before the boards, and still managed to score 94.2% in the boards.

i got 366/500 marks in class 12 (up board ) 2019. can i prepare for jee advance.

Arpit Agarwal 29th May, 2019

Well you have secured above 70% in your UP board. Though I've not the list of top 20%ile of UP oard candidates but since UP board has quite low scoring as comparison to other boards.

So I can safely assume you must be in the top 20%ile list and hence you would shortlisted for JEE advanced provided you have qualified your JEE mains exam.

Work on a Time Table: After carefully checking the syllabus of the exam towards creating a perfect timetable which will fit your schedule while leaving enough time to prepare for the examination within the days left.

Devide & Segregate the JEE Main Syllabus: The topics from the Exam syllabus must be divided into easy, tough and very tough so that preparation of the exam is made accordingly.

How to prepare for nchcmt jee in easy way

himanshi_1497963198 Student Expert 27th May, 2019

Hello Sundhar

1.     Make a Study Plan

An organized study schedule for the NCHMCT JEE will allow you to set a clear action goal for the exam.

2.     Practice Regularly

Practice is the key to score well in the NCHMCT JEE. Since the NCHMCT JEE consists of numerous sections such as Logical Deduction.

3.     Don’t fear the Maths Section!

A lot of students are afraid of the maths section on the NCHMCT because they assume the maths on the exam is something of rocket science difficulty.

4.     Keep your General Knowledge Up to Date5.     Master your English Language Skills

Eligibility criteria

  • Candidates who will be appearing in 10+2 or equivalent exam are also eligible to appear in NCHM JEE 2019.

  • It is compulsory for candidates to have English as one of their subjects in 10+2. English has to be a subject of study (functional, elective or core) and it is compulsory for candidates to pass in it.

  • Candidates must pass in 10+2 of Senior Secondary Exam (SSE) or any other equivalent exam.

Do every student who will crack JEE advanced will get IITs

Arpit Agarwal 30th May, 2019

No!

Simple. I've achieved a rank under 10k but still prefered NIT over the IIT's available at this rank.

Infact you can safely assume that around 15k students 20k would opt for NIT over IIT.

The simple reason is qualifying JEE advanced should not be the motive but cracking the IIT under 5k should be the motive.

manisha.gupta 27th Jul, 2019

Hello Aspirant,

You need to devide the time properly for your boards & JEE Main Exam. With the correct preparation strategy, you can achieve the results that you want in both of the examinations.

Know your Syllabus Well: It is essential that you know what topics you have to cover for the examination. JEE Main covers both 11th and 12th standard syllabus. Therefore, you should know what topics and subjects are likely to appear for the examinations.

Create a Time Table: Divide your syllabus and allot specific timings per day for a subject. The timings should be devided in such a way that at least some topics of each subject are covered per day. Since JEE Main also consists of the 11th standard syllabus, make some time in the evening or morning for the topics related to the 11th standard. Timetables will help you stay on track to complete the syllabus.

Develop your Daily Targets: Make your daily targets in such a way that the entire syllabus will be completed well before time so that enough days are left for revision. The main focus should be on completing 12th standard syllabus for the board examinations.  it is advised that some part of the syllabus is completed in the daily targets along with the 12th standard syllabus.

Practise MCQ questions: Multiple Choice Questions will be there in the JEE Main examination. Solving MCQ’s per day will allow you to revise constantly will also provide a base for the extensive descriptive answers of the examinations. Keep solving a few MCQ questions every day for better preparation.

Practise with the Sample papers & join Mock test also to analyze your performance.
