with 93000 rank and general category can I get biotechnology college in vit

Rohit singh 8th May, 2025

Hey there! With a rank of 93,000 in the general category, getting into VIT for biotechnology might be a bit tricky, but it’s not impossible! Admission can be pretty competitive, especially for popular courses like biotech. It really depends on the specific campus and the cut-off trends for the year. I'd recommend checking out the latest cut-off ranks for VIT and maybe even looking into some other colleges too, just to keep your options open. Good luck!

I have a rank of 30247 in viteee will I be able to get btech biotechnology ot bioinformatics

Tanisha chaudhary 12th Jun, 2025

HEY THERE!!!

  1. With a VITEEE rank of 30,247, securing B.Tech Biotechnology or Bioinformatics at VIT Vellore is, frankly, quite unlikely.
  2. Historically, the closing ranks for these programs at the Vellore campus are much lower—typically around 13,000 for Biotechnology and between 7,300 to 11,000 for Bioinformatics.
  3. That said, VIT Chennai presents a more realistic opportunity. The closing ranks for Biotechnology and similar branches there can extend up to 28,000–32,000, which puts you within the range of consideration.
  4. Realistically, you’re far more likely to get Biotechnology at the Chennai campus or perhaps one of the other VIT campuses where competition is a bit less intense. Vellore’s probably out of reach, but Chennai isn’t out of the question.

Is 104 in MET Phase 1 enough to get admission in BTech Biotechnology in Manipal main campus?

SUKRITI GUPTA 30th Apr, 2025

It's difficult to definitively say if a MET Phase 1 score of 104 will be enough to guarantee admission to BTech Biotechnology at the Manipal main campus. Here's a breakdown of why and what factors are at play:

Manipal University doesn't publicly release exact cutoffs after Phase 1. Admission is based on the marks obtained in the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) and your 10+2 marks. They typically release a merit list after both phases of MET are concluded.

However, we can look at past trends and some general estimations. Based on previous years' MET score vs. rank analyses, a score around 100-120 might place you in a rank range of 4501 to 8000 or possibly even beyond .

Now, considering the BTech Biotechnology cutoff ranks for Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal (the main campus), the closing ranks in previous years have varied. For example, in 2024, the last round closing rank for BTech Biotechnology was around 23458 . In 2023, it was around 30017 , and in 2022, it was around 19919 .

Therefore, based on these past trends, a rank corresponding to a score of 104 in MET Phase 1 might be on the borderline or slightly below what has been required for BTech Biotechnology at the main campus in recent years.

How to get admission in b tech biotechnology

Afreen 7th Jun, 2025

To gain admission into a B.Tech Biotechnology program , you generally need to meet the basic eligibility criteria, including completing Class 12 with a science background (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics). Many top colleges also require a strong performance in entrance exams like JEE Main, CUET, or other state-level exams, and may also consider merit-based admissions.

1. Eligibility Criteria:

Class 12: Students must have completed Class 12 with a science background, securing a minimum of 50-60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics.

English: Many colleges require English as a compulsory subject.

Age: Some institutions may have a minimum age requirement.

Reservations: Candidates from Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Other Backward Classes (OBC) may receive a relaxation in the minimum marks required for eligibility.

2. Entrance Exams:

National Level:

JEE Main is a popular entrance exam for engineering programs, including B.Tech Biotechnology.

State Level:

Many states have their own engineering entrance exams like KCET, MHT CET, and KEAM.

Other Entrance Exams:

Some colleges also accept CUET, IIT JAM, ICAR AIEEA, and COMEDK UGET scores.

College-Specific Exams:

Some colleges may have their own entrance exams for Biotechnology programs.

3. Admission Process:

Merit-Based:

Some colleges may offer admission based on Class 12 merit, where they consider your overall percentage or grade in your Class 12 board exams.

Entrance-Based:

Top colleges typically admit students based on their performance in entrance exams, and they may also conduct counseling or interviews.

Application Process:

You'll need to visit the official websites of the colleges you're interested in and fill out the online application form.

my home state is Uttarakhand and enjoy my rank was 4 lakh 60 thousand so do you think it is possible to get admission in chemical engineering or biotechnology general

I am not clear if you've told that you belong to general category, if that's the case then with your rank you mentioned it is quite unlikely to be admitted in top institutions like an Nit or IIT in the course of biotechnology and chemical engineering you might have a chance in less competitive institutions or private colleges in slightly lower cut offs also you have options like state level university.

If that's not the case and you do not belong to general category, then you have a better chance to get admission in the courses of chemical engineering or biotechnology especially in Nit's or other state engineering college Where Cutoff are less for reserve categories.

Is rvce better than JSS for biotechnology if i want to do my masters abroad and im not looking for placements immediately

Afreen 22nd Apr, 2025

For pursuing a Master's abroad in Biotechnology and prioritizing academic excellence over immediate placements, RVCE (R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore) is generally considered the stronger choice compared to JSS (JSS Academy of Technical Education, Bangalore). While both colleges offer good Biotechnology programs, RVCE has a reputation for high-quality education, strong research opportunities, and a better track record for students pursuing higher studies abroad.

RVCE (R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore):

Reputation:

Known for its strong engineering program and a good reputation for producing skilled and competent engineers, including those in Biotechnology.

Academic Focus:

Strong emphasis on research opportunities, internships, and collaborations with industry partners, which can be beneficial for applications to top Master's programs abroad.

Faculty:

Highly qualified and experienced faculty dedicated to providing quality education and mentoring students.

Infrastructure:

Excellent infrastructure with well-equipped labs, research centers, and libraries.

Placements:

While placements are good, they are not the primary focus if you are prioritizing a Master's abroad.

Focus on International Education:

The college actively encourages students to pursue higher studies abroad, with many students succeeding in prestigious programs in the US, UK, and other countries.

JSS (JSS Academy of Technical Education, Bangalore):

Placement Focus:

JSS is generally known for its strong emphasis on placements and career support.

Academic Strength:

While JSS has a good academic reputation, it may not be as strong as RVCE for research and international education.

Infrastructure:

JSS has a well-maintained and green campus.

Placements:

JSS has a decent placement record with a good number of companies visiting the campus.

Focus on Local Industry:

JSS has strong connections with local industries, which can be beneficial for students seeking immediate employment.

In summary:

If you are prioritizing a Master's program abroad and value a strong academic environment, research opportunities, and a reputation for success in international education, RVCE is the better choice. JSS, while a good option for immediate placements, may not be as strong for students specifically focused on pursuing advanced studies abroad.
