Question : Directions: In a college, the total number of students who opted for Biology or Chemistry is 150. Later, 12 students who opted for Biology changed their preference and opted for Chemistry. Now, the number of students in Biology is half the number of students in Chemistry. How many students are in Chemistry now?

Option 1: 88

Option 2: 94

Option 3: 104

Option 4: 100

Team Careers360 21st Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: 100

Solution : Given:
The total number of students = 150
Let the number of students who opted for biology = x
and the number of students who opted for chemistry = y
This means –
x + y = 150 — (i)
Now, 12 students who opted for Biology changed their preference and opted for Chemistry.
So, the new number of students who opted for biology = x – 12
and the new number of students who opted for chemistry = y + 12

The number of students in Biology is half the number of students in Chemistry –
(x – 12) = (y + 12) ÷ 2
2(x – 12) = y + 12
2x – 24 = y + 12
2x – y = 36 — (ii)
Adding the equations (i) and (ii) –
x + y + 2x – y = 150 + 36
3x = 186
x = 186 ÷ 3
x = 62
Now, put the value of x in the equation (i) –
62 + y = 150
y = 150 – 62 = 88

So, the students who opted for chemistry now are (88 + 12) = 100. Hence, the fourth option is correct.

Question:

Select the most appropriate option to fill in the blank number 4.

Option 1: call off

Option 2: call in

Option 3: call out

Option 4: call for

Team Careers360 4th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: call for

Solution : The fourth option is the correct choice.

The sentence talks about the growing occurrence of epidemics and pandemics and how this will result in collaborative research. Call for is the correct option, as it means to demand or require, aligning with the need for collaborative research in response to epidemics and pandemics.

The meanings of the other options are as follows:

  • Call-off means to cancel or terminate an event or activity.
  • A call-in is to request someone's presence or assistance.
  • Call out means to challenge or criticise publicly.

Therefore, the correct answer is call for.

i got 45 in chemistry 47 in physics and 49 in biology and my overall percentage is 57% am i eligible for neet 2024.. as a general category

mjaisinghani62 10th Jan, 2024

Hello Ayushi

Sorry to say that you will not be eligible for neet ug 2024. As per eligibility criteria you must get minimum 50 aggregate marks in physics, chemistry and biology .

If you have got  more than 50 marks in any of the three subjects uou would have been eligible.

See you have got 45 marks in chemistry,  47 in physics and 49 marks in biology.  The total of three is less than 50 % marks ie 150 marks . You have 9 marks less . If you would have got 9 more marks then you would have got opportunity to appear in Neet.

Now you can reappear for pcb exam ( not all ) and again trg for neet.

Good luck .

what will happen if i failed in biology class 12 and passed in all 5 subjects ? (Pcb) . Do i pass or i have to repead the session or i have to give compartment test ? in 2023-24 boards.

Tanya Gupta 6th Jan, 2024

Hello,

In case you fail in your Biology exam in class 12, you may be given an opportunity to appear for a compartment exam for that particular subject. You will have to fill out the form and application with the school and then you'll be provided with the date of compartment exam. If you pass the compartment exam, you will be considered as having passed the board exams.

I hope this helps,

Thank you
