The JEE Mains examination mostly tests the analytical and study related knowledge of the student in terms of the concept clarity, practice of questions, and in depth knowledge about a particular topic.
Talking about Chemistry considering JEE Mains examination in particular you can refer to some books such as NCERT class 11th and class 12th chemistry, N awasthi for physical chemistry, himanshu pandey for organic Chemistry, and Pearson for inorganic chemistry.
Also make a habit of solving sample papers of individual topics and also try to give as many full length syllabus mock examinations before attempting for the JEE mains exam so that you can make a proper strategy regarding time distribution and selection and choice of questions.

Hi
There is equal weightage of chemistry and physics in NEET UG exam. If you think that you can score passing marks by just doing biology portion then you are wrong.
You are well aware of the increase in competition so you have to work on your weakness in order to gain confidence for the exam.
The only way to increase your score in chemistry is to go through NCERT and practice more questions
For physics, you can go for coaching notes or any reference book to build your concepts.
There is no golden rule that you have to refer certain number of MCQ books. Stick to standard books and practice more.
Keep solving previous year questions, it will help you a lot.
