is legal apptitude still a part of clat sllyabus or not after some changes

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 23rd Nov, 2019

Vandana, The no.of questions has been reduced from 200 to 120-150. The exam will be conducted offline for a duration of 2 hours. The questions will  be asked on Quantitative Techniques, English, Current Affairs, Deductive reasoning and logical reasoning. And yes, Legal aptitude is still a part of CLAT syllabus. CLAT LLM syllabus has various sections such as Constitutional Law, Law of Torts, International Law, Jurisprudence, Intellectual Property law, Law of Contracts and Criminal Law. Constitutional law refers to the rights states and implemented in the Federal and State Constitutions. Law of Torts in common law jurisdictions is a civil wrong that causes a claimant to suffer loss or harm resulting in legal liability for the person who is accused of committing the act. Books by VN Shukla, Brij Kishore Sharma and JN Pandey are must reads. For Jurisprudence, books by VD Mahajan and Mani Tripathi are the best in the market. This is a tough subject and so try checking guides available on this subject in the local book stores as well. For the rest of the subjects, folloW Singhal's solved CLAT papers and gather as much information as possible from Internet for your preparation.

Dear Aspirant,

Following are some changes in CLAT exam:

  1. The number of questions is reduced from 200 to 120-150.
  2. The exam will remain off-line and for two hours.
  3. Comprehension based questions will be asked from quantitative techniques, English, current affairs, deductive reasoning and logical reasoning.

The idea is to get better students to national law universities who have competence in reading texts and demonstrate skills in inferential reasoning.

which books to prefer for reading comprehension and information deduction for clat after seeing the change in clat pattern 2020??

Sanjanaleekha 21st Nov, 2019

Hi there,

According to today's press release by NLU Consortium pattern for CLAT 2020 has been changed and now there will be 120-150 questions rather than 200 and questions from deductive reasoning and english will be  comprehension based questions, this is change from the earlier pattern of questions. Deductive reasoning is basically logical deductions made from a statement in my opinion A modern approach to logical reasoning by R.S Aggarwal cover questions on deductive reasoning which are comprehension based so you can refer this book for your deductive reasoning questions. Now coming to English, Wren and Martin and Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis will help you in this section
