If you want to pursue fashion designing as a career, then there is no restriction on subjects or stream for fashion designers. You can choose Arts, Commerce and Science in class 11th. The aptitude test examines candidates’ intuitive ability, observation power in the development of a concept and design ability. Along with that, creative and innovative use of illustration and color skills are tested. 

Any entrance exam for fashion design admissions comprises following basic sections-

• English Comprehension: This tests the candidate’s ability to comprehend a situation from a given passage, along with a test of basic English language.

There is no restriction for the fashion designing course regarding the stream. All streams are eligible for applying for fashion designing course. 

But if you are sure that you only want to be a fashion designer, in that case you can take arts as other streams are not of much use in this case. By taking arts you can take out time to explore your creative side and also can prepare for the entrance exams.
