From the past few years, fashion design has become more of a necessity. It has come to take over our consciousness to the extent that whatever we buy or wear today should definitely make a fashion statement. As the fashion industry is developing in every aspect, courses related to fashion have also emerged and made its place in the academic field. Today there are many Fashion Design courses at UG and PG levels. The courses groom students according to the requirements of the fashion world. Students get to learn a lot about fashion designing, textile industries, fashion management and other such things.
Step 1: Finish a degree programme.
In order to get into this tough sector, aspiring fashion designers must complete a degree programme to enhance their abilities. Students interested in fashion design can pursue an associate's or bachelor's degree in the discipline, which includes coursework in computer-aided fashion design, fashion history, textiles, figure drawing, and pattern creation. Fashion designers can also prepare for a profession by earning a degree in fashion merchandising, which includes coursework in merchandise planning, retail sales promotion, consumer behaviour, retail management, and product creation.
Step 2: Gain practical experience to hone your abilities.
Students must practise outside of the classroom in order to refine the abilities required to execute a design from concept to completion. Participating in an internship programme with a design business, garment maker, or personal trainer can provide this hands-on experience.
Step 3: Study the fashion industry.
The commercial acumen required to keep a firm functioning lies behind the fashion industry's artistic flare. Students should acquaint themselves with what goes on behind the scenes, such as finance, sales, and marketing, in addition to understanding the creative side of the sector, especially if they intend to start their own fashion firm.
4th step Construct a portfolio.
Future fashion designers must construct a portfolio that demonstrates their talents and creative sensibility in order to show off their expertise to potential employers. Students may complete their portfolio with work they've done throughout their degree programme, so it's critical that they approach each task as if they're going to exhibit it to a potential supervisor. Portfolios allow people to display a variety of skills, such as drawing, sewing, and pattern creation.
Step 5: Stay on top of the latest fashions.
Season to season, the fashion business evolves, therefore it's critical for designers to stay on top of the latest trends. Reading industry papers and periodicals on a regular basis might help you achieve this.

NIFT is better than many other design colleges in India for sure, but studying fashion designing in India and studying fashion designing in abroad doesn't bring much difference as 95% of education and coaching are similar in both India and Abroad. The only difference would be that when you study in abroad you would meet new people from different ethnic group and culture.
when it comes to the comparison of NIFT or NID then, NID is better than NIFT. NID Ahmadabad has emerged as the best designing institute in India in the year 2021 scoring 457.5 out of 500 according to Career's360 Ranking Of India's Design Institutes.
