Question : The ratio of the number of boys and girls in a school of 720 students is 7 : 5. How many more girls should be admitted to make the ratio 1 : 1?

Option 1: 90

Option 2: 120

Option 3: 220

Option 4: 240

Team Careers360 25th Jan, 2024

Correct Answer: 120

Solution : The current ratio of boys to girls in the school is 7 : 5.
This means that out of every 12 students (7 boys + 5 girls), 7 are boys and 5 are girls.
The number of boys and girls in the school is 720.
Number of boys = $\frac{7}{12}×720 = 420$
Number of girls = $\frac{5}{12}×720 = 300$
To make the ratio of boys to girls 1 : 1, the number of girls should be equal to the number of boys.
Additional girls needed = Number of boys – Number of girls = 420 – 300 = 120
Hence, the correct answer is 120.

Kindly tell colleges which I can get with 155606 rank in JEE Main. General category

ARYAN SAGAR 27th Sep, 2020
Dear student,

As you are a general category student and have secured 155606 rank in jee mains , then sorry you will not get any nits or iiits. As the competition level is increasing day by day and this statement applies mainly for general category students, so for getting a seat in nits or iiits from general category, your rank must be roughly under 30000.

If you belong home state quota then you can get NIT puducherry, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Nagaland, NIT Imphal, etc.
But if you being from other state then you cannot get any branch in in these low nits or any nit or any iiit.

Also you better try at some other state colleges or private institutions like kalinga institute of industrial technology or cv raman global university, as many low rankers can easily get admission in these two private colleges.

Also check out our jee mains college predictor tool to get an appropriate idea of colleges that you can get on basis of your jee mains rank :-

what is the cutoff rank for cse in amrita coimbatore for general category outside Tamilnadu

S. Saha Student Expert 29th Sep, 2020

Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore campus is one of the best campuses so the cutoffs are quite high compared other campuses. Now you don't belong to the state therefore you'll be getting through Other state quota. For state candidates, the closing rank for Computer Science and Engineering lies around 13500 while the closing rank for other state candidates in Computer Science and Engineering branch lies around 1800 rank. However this is based on previous year cutoffs and this year the cutoffs may change. You can check the cutoffs of other branches and other campuses here https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/aeee-cutoff

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 27th Oct, 2019
Dear Pavan, there is no official announcement regarding any change of exam pattern by NTA. As of now only AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS have been scrapped off in favour of NEET UG. Everything else remains the same. NEET is going to be held offline with 180 questions in the form of MCQs to be answered in 3 hours. 45 MCQs from Physics, 45 MCQs from Chemistry and 90 MCQs from Biology. Every correct answer gets you 4 marks and a wrong answer takes away 1 mark.
