What is the scope of BA history, economics and political science in terms of pathways in future?

Prof. Dishan Kamdar 24th Apr, 2020

The answer rests in what kind of BA you are taking- BA in liberal arts setting or BA from the traditional offering perspective.
If you are taking BA in Liberal arts context, so if you are pursuing BA in History in a non liberal arts setting, you will just be diving deep into history, history and history all your years without understanding the other disciplines.
If you pursue a BA in History in liberal arts setting, you will develop a deep understanding of history and at the same time you will have adopted all the other transferable skills. So, you will be a history  major who will be creative, who would be able to solve complex problems, who will be a great communicator. So that is the difference and hence there are implications in the job market.

Ive done my BA LLB Honors from IP University. I wish to do B.Ed from Delhi University and teach history as a subject in schools. Is it possible? If else, what other options do I have?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 3rd Jun, 2020

B.Ed is a Professional course that one can pursue after Graduation to take up Teaching as a profession. You can teach in Schools after your B.Ed. But to teach History in Schools, you should have had History as a subject in your Graduation. If BA LLB does have that, you can teach History in schools based on your B.Ed degree.

What career options does one have in teaching line in schools (not colleges) if one has done B.A.LL.B Honors (5 year integrated course)? Can anybody tell me about b.ed?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 3rd Jun, 2020

To be honest with you, LLB alone cannot get you a teaching job. Even if it is an Integrated Law course, you will still need LLM or Ph.D to teach in Law Schools and atleast a B.Ed if you want to teach in Schools. Now B.Ed is a Professional course that one can pursue after Graduation to take up Teaching as a profession. You can teach in Schools after your B.Ed.

What are the problems encountered in the use of literary sources for writing ancient history? Give examples

lubhan cherwoo 17th Apr, 2020

hi,

To recreate the past literary sources provide deep insight but the possibility that are highly influenced by the conditions of a writer cannot be neglected.

Explanation: The foremost problem is the credibility of the ancient literary source because the writers were patronized by royal courts and private wealthy individuals, therefore, we found a lack of criticism towards them. Historically, writing is patronized by the royal courts to justify their rule and therefore the element of bias needs to be studied carefully.

Therefore to recreate the past a historian has to not just understand the literary sources but also the context in which the source was produced.
