to get admission in NITs/IITs in HSC 75% aggregate is compulsary or to be in top 20 percentile. what does it mean to be in top 20 percentile means what plz tell me

Anurag Khanna 25th Dec, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

As we know that to qualify for JEE Mains, there is no minimum aggregate percentage criteria but yes if you want to take admission into NITs, IIITs or CFTIs then you should score a minimum aggregate of 75% in your class 12th if you belongs to General/Unreserved category and 65% if you belongs to any of the reserved category. Now if the board's overall result goes down then top 20 percentile method will be considered which means that if your score comes under top 20 % of result then also you are eligible for admission to NITs/IIITs/CFTIs even if you did not get 75% in class 12th.

On December 16th 2020 the application process for JEE-Main 2021 Feberuary attempt has been started by National Testing Agency (NTA) which is the conducting authority for JEE-Main 2021. You can apply for JEE-Main from the official portal of JEE-Main which is given below :-

Admit cards will be available for download from second week of February 2021 and the examination will be conducted from February 23rd to February 26th 2021 in two shifts per day, for February attempt.

A candidate will also have option to apply for one Session or more than one Session (February/ March /April /May 2021) together and pay exam fee accordingly. In other words, if a candidate wishes to apply only for one Session, he / she has to pay Examination Fee only for that Session during the current application period and will have opportunity to apply again for the March/ April / May Sessions.

Sohamsengupta8 25th Dec, 2020

Hello student

You got 355 in aggregate in HSC. So there is little chance for getting  in the top 20 percentile top list. You have not mentioned your goal and aim next to HSC. If you mentioned it it then it was easy to answer all the details of any prior examination.

Hope hope for the best.

did hsc passing certificate is mandatory while reporting to allotted clg?

Nive 24th Dec, 2020

Hello, if you are asking about the document verification process then it is mandatory to have your HSC marksheet. But if you are asking when reporting to the college the it depends on that particular college. Some colleges collect your grade sheets and only return after you have graduated form their college. It will be given along with your TC.

Hope this helps.

Karam Vir 24th Dec, 2020

Hi,

For admission into NITS/IITs, candidates need to have aggregate 75% marks in class 12 board examination from a recognised board. It includes all the subjects not only PCM. Reserved categories need 65% for admission into NITs/IITs or candidates must be in top 20 percentiles of their respective boards in class 12 examination.

I belongs to obc category. I have filled registration form of CAP process using receipt of caste validity certificate. I dont have caste validity certificate yet. My hsc marks can not fullfill condition of open criteria. My application will get accepted or not.

harshitasharansrivastava Student Expert 23rd Dec, 2020

Hi dear,

Your application is sent for  E-Verification by Scrutiny Center once you fill your application form. And in case of any discrepancies in documents, students are informed about the same. So, if there is any issue found and you are asked to submit your category certificate then your application for CAP round will not be considered. So it is advised to get your documents ready asap to avoid any hinderance in admission process. Also, you can reach out to official helpdesk for help.
