in which animal Rh factor first discovered ?

ARYAN SAGAR 22nd Sep, 2020
Dear student,

Rh factor is an antigen, a substance which stimulates the production of antibodies to fight foreign invaders, such as viruses, bacteria and transplanted organs.

A given individual either has the antigen already in their blood (they are Rh positive), or they don't (they are Rh negative).

Rh factor was first discovered in Rhesus Monkey (small monkeys from India often used for experimentation) by Karl Landsteiner and A.S. Weiner in 1940.

In 1940, Landsteiner and his colleagues found that when blood from monkeys was injected into rabbits and guinea pigs, it clotted. This was because of the presence of another antigen that the researchers had not classified before. Landsteiner called this antigen the Rh (Rhesus) factor. And from this RH factor came to existence.

human anatomy and physiology 1 theory

Nishu Kumari 5th Sep, 2020

Hii there, your question is not clear. Please elaborate your doubts. As far as I can understand if you are asking about books you should refer for this subject, some of them are:

Atlas of Human Anatomy, Professional Edition, 7th Edition.

Ross & Wilson Anatomy and Physiology in Health and Illness, 13th Edition.

Clinical Anatomy: Applied Anatomy for Students and Junior Doctors, 14th Edition.

Gray’s Anatomy for Students, 4th Edition.

There are more books.

But I would suggest you to consult your college professors as they might suggest you books related to your actual course of study and which is more easier to look at.

Good luck!
