initially the Candidate is selected as an Assistant Executive Engineer or at an Assistant Director Level. After putting a work experience of 3-4 years, the Candidate will be promoted to Director or Executive Engineer. Once the Candidate puts up 13 years of Experience, he/she will be promoted to the position of Chief Engineer Level 2 or Joint General Manager. The same Candidate, after an experience of 20 years will be promoted to the position of Chief Engineer or Additional General Manager. After putting 30 years of experience, he/she will become a Senior General Manager and the final promotion is after 34 years of experience to the position of a Managing Director or Chairperson of the Govt. Organisation. So no w various designations have various roles in various sectors. What an Additional General Manager does in Indian Railways is different from what a Chief Engineer does in Indian Ordinance Factory. So we cannot generalise an IES officer's job role and function.
Hello,
The duties of an Indian Engineering Services (IES) officer is to meet the technical functions of the government of india .an IES officer functions in technical areas like roads, railways, manufacturing, defense, construction, public works, telecommunications, power .
It is a good job .that it also has huge salary payment.
Dear Aspirant,
For ILS seats, the cut off is same as that of general category cut off. So it is difficult to predict the cut off. Also the college don't release the ILS cut off as such. The general category cut off for Chetna, MET, IES is around 98 percentile. So, the chances for you are quite difficult.
Hope this helps
