Hello Aspirant,

Advantage- One of the most demanding science courses in the world is industrial chemistry. It is the area of chemistry where physical and chemical procedures are used to turn raw materials into goods that benefit humanity.

You can apply for the following jobs at various MNCs worldwide after earning a degree, diploma, or any certificate in industrial chemistry. As I noted below, the classification includes topics for specialisation.

  • Materials Chemist . West Midlands, England. .
  • R&D Chemist - Organic Synthesis.
  • Senior Analytical Scientist - Mass Spectormetrist.
  • Senior Associate Scientist.
  • Development Chemist - Electrode Coatings.
  • Development Chemist .
  • Field Maintenance Engineer.

The average salary is also from 1- 10 lakh per annum, you can count that as an advantage.

Now looking at the Disadvantage- If you choose the chemical sector, you will work in laboratories, manufacturing facilities, etc.

Additionally, take care of any chemicals or dangerous compounds in that area. You resolve to end your life in seven to ten years.

For me, that is the most significant factor of Industrial chemistry drawbacks.

The next question is whether a Bsc in industrial chemistry qualifies you for a master's degree in chemistry. Let's look at the requirements for master's degrees in chemistry:

Candidates for the MSc in Chemistry programme must possess a scientific bachelor's degree from a recognised university. The candidate should essentially receive grades between 50% and 60% at the graduation level to meet the minimum standards for admission to the MSc level.

Therefore, after earning your B.S. in industrial chemistry, you are qualified to pursue a master's degree in chemistry.

The average for a graduate of M.Sc Chemistry is INR 3 LPA (Source: Payscale). Mentioned below are some of the jobs after M.Sc Chemistry with salary:

Quality Assurance Manager INR 10 LPA
Clinical Research Associate INR 7.1 LPA

Government jobs - After earning an M.Sc. in Chemistry, there are numerous government jobs in a variety of settings. Jobs for M.Sc. Chemistry graduates are available in a variety of government sector organisations, depending on their interests, skill set, and area of specialisation.

The selection process for M.Sc. Chemistry government jobs typically consists of an entrance exam, which is followed by a personal interview. After completing the hiring processes for M.Sc. Chemistry jobs, organisations that conduct chemical research and the military are among the sectors that pay well.

Some of the M.Sc Chemistry jobs for freshers in the government sector are listed below:

Is there any limitation to write psc, upsc and railway test if i study bsc industrial chemistry?? Can I take msc Chemistry after completing bsc industrial chemistry??

Jyoti Eyasmin 10th Aug, 2022

Dear Student,

First of all let’s see the eligibility criteria of the examination that you had mentioned.

Public service Commission- The fundamental eligibility requirements for each state's PSC test vary because each state in the US has a unique conducting body for its own state-level exam. You  can verify the prerequisites for the state they are applying for on the official website.

In case of Kerala PSC - The applicants must be citizens of India and have a legal document proving their status as permanent residents of Kerala. According to the eligibility requirements for the Kerala PSC 10th Level Prelims, aspirants must have earned an SSLC or an equivalent degree.

UPSC - The UPSC does not judge applicants unfairly based on their degree test results. As a result, there is no required minimum qualifying percentage for IAS eligibility. The following list includes the UPSC's requirements for educational eligibility for the UPSC exam:

1.The applicant must be a graduate of a university with official recognition.

2.Candidates who are in their final year or who are awaiting results are also eligible to take the UPSC preliminary examination.

Railway test - Candidates who finished Class 10 at an institution accredited by NCVT/SCVT or one of its equivalents and who hold a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT/ITI degree are eligible to apply for the RRB Group D exam. For undergraduate positions, candidates applying to RRB NTPC must have completed Class 12; for graduate level positions, candidates must have completed graduation. Candidates for Assistant Loco Pilot must have completed Class 10 or SSLC Plus ITI, Act Apprenticeship Training, or have a diploma or degree in engineering. Candidates for the position of technician must have completed Act Apprenticeship training or Class 10 with Physics and Math, or have a diploma in engineering (As Applicable). Candidates for the RRB JE position must have earned their engineering diploma.

As you can see the eligibility criteria of the above examination, graduating with industrial chemistry will not hold you back from giving those examinations. You are eligible for all the exams you mentioned.

Next thing is if you can opt for masters in chemistry if you do Bsc in industrial chemistry. Now let’s see the eligibility criteria for masters of chemistry -

Applicants for the MSc in Chemistry programme must hold a bachelor's degree in science from an accredited institution of higher learning. To achieve the minimum requirements for admission to the MSc level, the candidate should essentially receive 50% to 60% grades at the graduation level.

So yes you are eligible to do masters in chemistry after completing Bsc in industrial chemistry.

Here’s a link to list of few msc chemistry colleges -

can a m.sc industrial microbiology student apply icar net???

pranjalg462 9th Jul, 2022

Indeed you are qualified for CSIR NET on the off chance that you have done modern microbial science. In a few Agricultural Universities, fundamental Microbiology is converged with Bio-innovation, and Agricultural microbial science stays a separate division. for seeming NET you need to finish your Bachelor's and master's in microbial science. In your M.Sc. you want to score over 55%. After that, you will be qualified for giving CSIR NET assessment which is held two times a year for example in June and December.
