define sales and marketing in brief

Muskan Shokeen 3rd Dec, 2021

Hello Aspirant.

Sales and marketing are quite different from each other we can say that they both are the two sides of same coin. First of all I would like to tell the difference between the  two. Sales is more of transaction-based, marketing aims at winning and retaining the customers for the long term. Sales is basically product oriented where marketing is customer oriented.

NOW LET'S DISCUSS THE BOTH IN BRIEF;-

  • SALES CONCEPT;

Sales is a process that which results in a transaction between two or more parties in which the buyer receives the offering and the seller gets something of value in return which is usually money. It is basically a transaction between two or more parties in which the buyer receives tangible or intangible goods, services, or assets in exchange for money. Sales is somehow considered to be as a narrower concept. And it is basically concerned with earning profit by selling the product and no with satisfying the needs of the customer. Sales basically focuses on Company needs. It is of short term duration. It is known as the fragmented approach.

  • MARKETING CONCEPT;

Marketing is basically the social process by which individuals and organizations obtain what they need and want through creating and exchanging value with others. Marketing is a customer oriented. The main aim of marketing is to provide the satisfaction to the customers. It is an integrated approach. Marketing focuses on the market needs. Marketing is a long term process. Marketing is considered to be as the wider concept. Marketing follows the pull strategy.

GOOD LUCK, STAY MOTIVATED AND HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.

Thankyou.

deference between sales and marketing

Moumoyee Chakraborty 3rd Dec, 2021

Dear applicant, Sales and Marketing are two different concepts of Marketing Management. Sales means in simple words Product Selling, you need to approach the customer to buy your products whereas Marketing means to make the customer aware of your products. You can promote the product to the customer but there is no forcing possibilities, you just want many people to know about your product so that indirectly you can influence them to buy them the product. Marketing is a broad spectrum of management sector, sales is a part of it.

Good luck!!

defference between sales and marketing

Hajara Najeeb 3rd Dec, 2021

Hi aspirant,

Both sales and marketing are terms that build a huge hype around them in the business and commercial world. Even though the terms are often associated with each other, there are differences that keep them apart.

Marketing can be considered as a way of branding by which you aim at potential customers and reach your brand or goods to them. Sales is in fact a process of turning these potential customers to actual ones by selling the goods thereby making a profit. Marketing is thus the efforts that are put to accomplish a result, the result being the profit through sales.

Marketing is also a process that comes before the process of Sales. Thus, we can infer that the efforts that are put towards marketing affect sales in a substantial way - a well planned and accomplished marketing creates growth in sales thereby reaping profits whereas an ineffective marketing bring the sales down.

Marketing is thus one of the major factor that influences sales. Hope this helps!

What are the marketing concepts? Explain the process of evolution of these concepts.

Raj 18th Nov, 2021

Hello student ,

Marketing concept can be defined as “a strategy that companies can use to satisfy the needs of their customers, increase profits, and beat the competition”.Marketing concept is the way of life in which all the resources of an organisation are mobilized to create, stimulate and satisfy the consumer at a profit. It represents a distinct philosophy of business and considers marketing more than a physical process.

You can divide marketing concepts into five different parts. These are:

  1. Production concept
  2. Product concept
  3. Selling concept
  4. Marketing concept
  5. Societal concept

The evolution of these started from a very simple idea of what customer wants and how they satisfy needs by means of product.It constantly stresses on the needs of the buyers. It focuses on the customer.Companies start by making products more efficiently from the competitors to make a place stronger in market.

if we done 10 th and futher polytechnic (diploma in electrical) then we can do marketing?

Subhrajit Mukherjee 17th Nov, 2021

See in general, Engineering students get a lot of scope in Marketing divisions. But right after the Diploma there are very less chances for you to get such a job opportunity. You can go for the BTech course and then you can get some chances in the non core fields or you can go for various diploma and other programs in Marketing. Now as you have a interest in Marketing, I would recommend you to go for BBA course which can give you a really good career ahead. For that you have to complete your 10+2 course with any subject and then you can go for it. Remember to have Mathematics as a subject in your 10+2. This can also be a good career option towards Marketing.
