Nit Trichy Industrial metallurgy or Nit surathkal materials engineering- Which is better for M.Tech? I have done btech in mechanical engineering.

Nimisha Sharma 9th Sep, 2021
Both NITs are a great option for Mtech but according to me NIT Trichy has an edge over the latter in terms of placement, curriculum and overall ratings. However, you should first select the branch of your interest. Metallurgical & Materials Engineering encompasses three inter-related engineering disciplines: mineral processing, extractive (or process) metallurgy, and materials science and engineering. Explore more about both courses and then choose among them.

a coke is known to contain 90% carbon and 10% noncommutative ash weight calculate the moles of oxygen are theoretically required burn 100 kg for completely ? if 50% excess air applied if calculate the analysis of gases at the end of combustion

Ayush 15th Jan, 2021

Hello candidate,

The reaction which takes place in the above question is-

{C (coke) + O2 (oxygen)- CO2 ( carbon dioxide) }.

As it is a balanced chemical reaction, so in order to produce 1 mole of carbon dioxide, 1 mole of coke used to be completely burnt in the presence one mole of oxygen.

As 100 kg of coke is burnt, so hundred kilograms of Oxygen gas is needed, which is equal to 4 moles of carbon dioxide produced.

Hope that it helps you!!
