Neurology
Dear Student,
BDS also known as Bachelor of Dental Science is a course where you will be studying to become a dental surgeon. This course cover carious fields of dental problems, denture and surgery . After the completion of the five year course you will be employed in either of the following places such as Private Clinics, Educational Institutions, Dental Clinics, Hospitals, Dental Products Manufactures, Pharmaceutical Companies
Whereas Neurology is a field of medicine where you will be leaning how to deal with nervous system. This field deals with diagnosis as well as treatment of kinds of conditions and diseases involving central and peripheral nervous systems. After the completion of this course you will be known as a neurologist
When it comes to choosing which field is better BDS or Neurology, it all solely depends on ones interest and drive. If dealing with various aspects of dental medicine is something that fascinates you then you should choose BDS. If the workings of the nervous system interests you then you should choose Neurology.
Biotechnology deals with the study of Biotechnology the genetic, chemical and physical attributes of cells, tissues, and organisms in order to develop new technologies, processes, and products that will improve the quality of human life.
While Neurology deals with the anatomy , functioning and measures of Nerves systems mainly in human body.
Both the courses deals with cellular genetics but in biotechnology ,it includes technology that can be applied in plant tissues like transmission of genetics. Nowadays biotechnology is even applied in neuroscience to fix problems in human brain. Thus biotechnology seems more interesting and have more scope.
But it mainly depends on your interest. If you are more curious in human nervous system and its features you should go for it. Orelse if you have an interest in applying technology to make changes in biology then biotechnology suits you better.
Both courses have a wide range of scope and it's based on your interest, how Better you can do it and the opportunities you will be offered.
Hope you find this information useful
Thanks

Hey,
The answer to your question is a big Yes. You can study Msc Neuroscience after completing your graduation for neurobiology. In fact that will be a better combination to pursue Master's in Neuroscience. Although there might be a possibility that few colleges or university will have different eligibility criteria but most of them allow students to pursue Msc In Neuroscience.
All the best.
Thank you.
There are two ways to pursue career in the field of neurology. First one is by clearing NEET and then after completion of your MBBS you can go for MD or DNB in the Neurology.
The other way is by pursuing paramedical courses in Neurology like B.Sc. in Neuroscience. Neuroscience deals with the structure and function of the brain and nervous system; here you will see experimental physiology, neurochemisty and any science of the brain/nervous system.
Top colleges for Neuroscience are
The Average Starting Salary for Bsc neuroscience graduate in India is 2 lac to 6 lac per annum. The salary depends on the experience.
You can pursue paramedical courses in Neurology which includes B.Sc. in Neuroscience.
Neuroscience deals with the structure and function of the brain and nervous system; here you will see experimental physiology, neurochemisty and any science of the brain/nervous system. It is a 3 year undergraduate course. Any student who has passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology is eligible to pursue this course. The admission to various colleges is usually done by the entrance examinations conducted by these colleges.
The undergraduate professionals can opt for both medical and non-medical career. They can work as Neurosurgeons, Neurophysicians, Neurologists, Neuro-anaesthetists, Neuropathologists, Neuro-ophthalmologists, Neuro-radiologists (interventional and non-interventional), Neuro-physiologists, Psychiatrists, Clinical psychologists, Physic, Rehab and Occupational therapists, or Speech therapists.
The candidates with B.Sc in Neuroscience can go for further studies for better job opportunities.
They can even settle abroad as there are many job opportunities.
The top B.Sc Neuroscience colleges are
The starting salary is around Rs. 4.5 Lac to Rs. 6 Lacs in a year. Those with years of experience their salary is around Rs. 14 - Rs.16 lacs per annum.
Hi aspirant,
Neuroscience is an in depth study of the structure, behaviour and function of the nervous system through a series of technological tests and experiments. The nervous system comprises of the spinal cord and the brain. Neuroscience was originally studied as a subject under biology but with recent technological advancements and awareness, it now is studied as an individual subject. It is an highly inter-disciplinary course. The course ranges from subjects like biology, physics, chemistry, physiology, anatomy, technology and engineering etc. Certain recent developments in this field are neuroplasticity and computational neuroscience consisting of genetics and imaging. Students can pursue a career in this from various pure science or engineering backgrounds (mainly electrical, computer science and biotechnology).
Candidates aspiring to become Neurologist must possess a 5½ years MBBS degree followed by 2- 3 years MD (Medicine) / DNB course. After attaining the Master's degree candidates have to do D.M. ( Neurology ) to specialize in the field of Neurology .

Hope it helps!
Greetings, Raja.
It is really great that you have thought of your future with some clarity. With regard to your query, you need to keep some things in mind:
- In order to become a Neurosurgeon you will need to work extremely hard for the next 7-9 years of your life, Neurosurgeons are some of the smartest people on the planet and that role requires a certain level of maturity as well as dedication. My point is that by the time you become a neurosurgeon you'd have learned to appreciate the art of reading regularly and researching to keep yourself updated all the time for the sake of your patients - you will not find much time for your self as a neurosurgeon worth his salt.
- Those neurosurgeons who have so much money are well accomplished medical experts and to nothing in life comes without any strings attached - you may have a lot of money after 10 years but to keep earning that money you will have to work harder than most normal people who have time to travel and enjoy life.
Now, on a serious note:
- If you do become a neurosurgeon you will have to practice privately (open your own hospital, etc.) because government surgeons have fixed salaries.
pros of being a Govt. surgeon;
- more work to improve yourself and to help society
- more research opportunities which will require you to travel abroad at least once a year (if you are an expert in a field) for lectures, seminars, neuro surgeon meetings and things like that with government funds - this will be your chance to travel and see the world after you are done with your work there.
- job satisfaction
pros of being a private surgeon:
- you are your own boss
- you can charge as much money as you want
- you can take as many vacations as you want and use your money to travel the world
Bottom line is- at the age of 40, when you have enough money and a good reputation to have some fun, your life will throw new responsibilities like family, kids, old parents, clients, commitments, etc. which will put breaks on your plans for your own life. so
- Learn time management as early as possible
- learn to have fun while studying new things
- aim to become an expert in a filed so that people invite you all over the world
- be a good doctor and earn respect
best of luck for your future, great day to you!
