There was a news that Merit based admission will be replaced by CAT Exam for DU and other national Universities. Is there any update to this? Please Answer

theeanonymous 13th Feb, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Yes , the news is true and is very likely to be implemented. The Common Aptitude Test will be conducted by the National Testing Agency where students will first have to appear for a general test (comprising logical reasoning, verbal and qualitative ability) and then for the subject-specific tests.  This is to eliminate the need to apply separately at different institutes or appear in multiple exams. This way students will not have to depend on 12th percentage alone. People who score 60% in 12th  can sit for the exam and clear it. It was said that it will be implemented from the academic session 2021-22 .The reports suggest that a seven-member committee will soon put forward their recommendations about the implementation and conduction of the Common Aptitude Test from the next this year.

sir i got 71.8 percentage in class 12 of batch 2019 -2020,now i am preparing for jee 2021.from latest news i found that 75 %i s necessary for joining in nits, iiits and 75%is necessary for writting jee advance, then my question is that what should i do now , please i am a dropper student please help

Anurag Khanna 30th Dec, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

Yes you heard it write, to qualify for JEE Mains, there is no minimum aggregate percentage criteria but yes if you want to take admission into NITs, IIITs or CFTIs or you want to appear for JEE-Advance then you should score a minimum aggregate of 75% in your class 12th if you belongs to General/Unreserved category and 65% if you belongs to any of the reserved category. So in the case if you have not scored the minimum 75% marks in class 12th in session 2019-20 then what you can do is, you can appear for improvement examination and you can clear that with 75% but note that your class 12th passing year will be considered as 2020, according to which you are allowed to appear in JEE-Main up to JEE-Main 2022 only. Or if you are under top 20 percentile of the result of your board for session 20219-20 then also you are eligible for JEE-Main 2021 and in this case it is not mandatory to have 75% in  class 12th.

There are many rumors spreading around on social media that JSOS is no more valid but the fact is it is an government recognized board recognized by Government of Jharkhand and there is no any official notification for any kind of dissolvement of that board so don't worry if you have passed out you classes from that board.

JEE MAIN 2021 date Announced by NTA. But why they suddenly Removed this news from Official website???

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 16th Dec, 2020

Before it was put as an official notification on the NTA's website, The HRD Minister did announce that he will conduct another live session on the 17th with the Teachers, Parents and Students regarding issues of importance. Also no concrete decision was taken regarding the syllabus and so it must have been taken down. There will be a live interaction session on December 17th with the HRD Minister and the parents, teachers and Students. May be a decision will be taken then.  NTA has not released any official information regarding JEE Mains 2021 yet.But what we know so far is that JEE Mains will be conducted 4 times a year starting from February until May and Candidates can choose to attend any one of the sessions or all the sessions.  So please wait to hear from NTA or MHRD regarding this. The latest information is that there will be a review meeting on December 10th regarding JEE Mains syllabus and so then  both MHRD and NTA will take a call on the dates for JEE Mains 2021. NTA has not released any official information regarding JEE 2021 yet. It might be scheduled for February 2021 and June 2021 but the application process might begin a month or 2 late may be in January. So please wait to hear from NTA or MHRD regarding this.  To qualify for JEE Mains, there is no minimum aggregate criteria. But if you want to join NITs, IIITs or CFTIs then you should score a minimum aggregate of 75% only in your 12th. 11th marks aren't considered. And then to appear for JEE Advanced which is the gateway for admission to IITs, you will need to fulfill the 75% aggregate condition. Now it is 75% for General Category and 65% for Reserved Categories. So how much you score in 12th is what matters to secure your eligibility for NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and JEE Advanced.
