In between nmit and upes which will be better for cse btech

Nikita shahi 10th Aug, 2025

Hello,

When deciding between NMIT and UPES for a B.Tech in Computer Science, both bring unique strengths.

  • NMIT, located in Bangalore, is known for its strong academic curriculum aligned with VTU, good placement records in core IT roles, and a competitive campus environment.
  • On the other hand UPES, situated near Dehradun, offers a tech-focused curriculum with specialized electives in areas like AI/ML, data science, and cybersecurity, plus access to emerging industry ties—particularly in logistics and energy IT.

If you prefer a traditional computer science route with Bangalore’s industry access, NMIT might suit you better. If you lean toward sector-specific software applications in niche fields and want a more modern curriculum, UPES could edge ahead. Also weigh in the campus vibe, alumni network, and fee structure before deciding.

Thank you!

Aryan 17th Jul, 2025

Hi dear candidate,

Both of the options are good at their own places for B.Tech, but there are few things that are worth mentioning to differentiate:

UPES:

  • Offers multiple specializations that help avail a lot of in depth about the subject like AI, Data Science, Cyber security, graphics and gaming.
  • Connections with many industry giants for placements.
  • Practical based studies.
  • Slightly higher fees.

NMIT

  • Slightly affordable fees structure.
  • Well reputed in Bangalore.
  • Offers good foundation in core computer subjects.
  • Lesser competitive in syllabus as compared to UPES.

It also depends on various factors of yours like budget, proximity to your house and personal preference.

Overall, UPES looks more promising.

In between nmit and upes which will be better for cse btech

Afreen 13th Aug, 2025

For a B.Tech in CSE, NMIT (Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology ) is generally considered a better choice than UPES (University of Petroleum and Energy Studies) , particularly for students prioritizing core computer science roles and strong placements. NMIT boasts a higher placement rate and a robust curriculum, while also offering a strong emphasis on extracurricular activities and sports.

If your primary goal is a strong foundation in core CSE with excellent placement opportunities, NMIT is likely the better choice. If you are interested in exploring specialized areas within CSE and are open to a broader range of opportunities, UPES could be a good option.

All the bedt!

HEY THERE!!

  1. If you secure admission to Computer Science and Engineering at NMIT through KCET in 2025, the annual tuition fee stands at approximately INR 83,526.
  2. This amount is notably less than what is charged under the management or COMEDK quotas, where fees are considerably higher.
  3. It’s important to note that there may be additional university or miscellaneous fees, but the primary tuition for those admitted via KCET remains around INR 83,526 per year.

RNS College CSE is better in nmit and CMR

Radhika Goyal 14th Aug, 2024

Hy,

Choosing the right college for Computer Science Engineering (CSE) depends on various factors including faculty quality, infrastructure, placement opportunities, industry exposure, and student reviews. Let’s compare RNS Institute of Technology (RNSIT), Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT), and CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT) based on these criteria:

RNS Institute of Technology (RNSIT)

Pros:

  1. Faculty : RNSIT has a strong faculty with experienced professors and industry professionals.
  2. Infrastructure : Good infrastructure with well-equipped labs, libraries, and facilities.
  3. Placements : Decent placement records with many IT companies recruiting from the campus.
  4. Industry Exposure : Regular workshops, seminars, and industry interactions.

Cons:

  1. Location : Located a bit far from the main city, which might be a concern for some students.
  2. Crowd : The student crowd is mixed, and peer learning might vary.

Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT)

Pros:

  1. Faculty : Qualified and experienced faculty members.
  2. Infrastructure : Good infrastructure with advanced labs and research facilities.
  3. Placements : Strong placement records, especially in the IT sector, with top companies visiting the campus.
  4. Industry Exposure : Excellent industry tie-ups and opportunities for internships and projects.
  5. Accreditation : NBA accredited programs and NAAC accreditation.

Cons:

  1. Location : Located on the outskirts of Bangalore, which might be a little inconvenient for some students.
  2. Campus Life : While good, the campus life might be quieter compared to colleges closer to the city.

CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT)

Pros:

  1. Faculty : Experienced faculty with a good mix of academic and industry experience.
  2. Infrastructure : Modern infrastructure with state-of-the-art labs and facilities.
  3. Placements : Good placement records with regular visits from top tech companies.
  4. Location : Conveniently located in the city, making it accessible and offering vibrant campus life.
  5. Industry Exposure : Strong industry connections, frequent guest lectures, and industrial visits.

Cons:

  1. Batch Size : Larger batch sizes can sometimes lead to less personalized attention.
  2. Competition : High competition among students due to the larger student body.

Conclusion

  • If you prioritize location and vibrant campus life , CMRIT might be the best choice for you due to its city location and strong industry connections.
  • If you prioritize strong industry exposure and good placement opportunities , NMIT stands out with its excellent industry tie-ups and strong placement record.
  • If you prefer a balanced environment with good faculty and infrastructure , RNSIT is a solid option.

Ultimately, the choice depends on your specific preferences and priorities. Visiting the campuses, talking to current students and alumni, and considering your own career goals can help make the best decision.

Tanya Gupta 27th Jul, 2024

Hello,

NMIT Engineering College offers various branches, but some of the most sought-after and well-regarded ones include Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), and Information Science and Engineering (ISE). CSE is a popular choice, with excellent placement records and a strong curriculum. ECE is another in-demand branch, with a wide range of applications in industries like telecommunications, electronics, and robotics. ISE is also a great option, focusing on software engineering, data science, and artificial intelligence.

hope this helps,

Thank you

How is the TNEA document verification going to happen, is it online or should I go to the TFC, I have yet to receive the Certificate for studied from 8th to 12th in Tamil Nadu from my school and today is the last day for uploading documents (12/06/2024), Is it possible to upload it later?

Nitin Kumar 12th Jun, 2024

The TNEA document verification process is not online. You'll need to visit a designated TNEA Facilitation Centre (TFC) to have your documents verified in person.  You have already uploaded the documents you have available (as of today, June 12, 2024) which is great.

After uploading the documents, you will need to visit a TFC as per the schedule provided by the DoTE, Tamil Nadu. This typically happens between the application closing date and the rank list declaration. At the TFC, officials will verify the originals of the documents you uploaded online, including your certificates from 8th to 12th standard (if available by then).

Since today is the last day for uploading documents, and you haven't received your certificates yet:

Try contacting your school as soon as possible to inquire about the status of your certificates and the expected date of issuance. Explain your situation regarding TNEA document verification.

If you have any other supporting documents related to your 8th to 12th studies (like mark sheets, transfer certificates, etc.), upload them during the online window.

If your certificates are still not ready by the time of your TFC visit, try to get a written statement from your school explaining the delay and confirming your academic record.

During verification at the TFC, explain the situation to the officials and present any supporting documents you have (statement from school, mark sheets).

aashitdua_6851558 Student Expert 1st Jul, 2019

Hey Sanjay,

Placements in the college are going on in full swing. The college provides good training for students to face the challenging questions posed by the interviewers. There are many workshops conducted to improve the managerial skills of students which mean a lot in the career ahead. Also, live-internships are offered to students wherein students take up live projects and contribute their analysis
