1) My brother has completed MBBS from West Bengal, He has NC-OBC certificate from Odisha. Does he need to apply for OBC certificate from West Bengal in order to be eligible for state quota in NEET-PG? 2) Can he sit for NEET-PG counseling from Odisha too?

anirudha vats 13th Nov, 2020

Hey,

The West Bengal for admission in NEET PG state quota seats clearly requires that the candidate should have done his or her undergraduate MBBS from the state or West Bengal or he or she should have a permanent resident in the state.

You have done your MBBS from West Bengal so you can sit for state quota seat. As you belong to odisha so you will definitely be eligible for the state quota counseling of Odisha as well.

Hope that helps.

Thank you

The cutoff changes every year for all colleges depending upon various factors. Referring to previous years data, the cutoff scores had a range from 500 to 560 and the cutoff rank had a range 6000-18600. Looking at your score, you have a good chance of getting into Government Medical Colleges in Odisha through state quota. Also, you have a chance of getting in private medical college.

ojaswiyolo Student Expert 11th Nov, 2020

Hello

Do not worry, both SEBC nad OBC  category students rae given the 27% reservation quota and the fact that odisha does not give obc certificates is a matter which will be taken in mind when you will be called for counselling so do not worry. Both SEBC and OBC are interlinked. The Centre uses the term OBC and States SEBC. All the best!
