Pathology
HI,
National institutes have some great fellowship programmes ;-
These fellowships have lots of competition, entrance exams and interviews, most people i know who have done these fellowships praise them for their value and recommend them. There is a catch as always, medical colleges especially private ones don’t care if you have a fellowship, they need a pathologist, not an expert neuropathologist, more so if you have to pay him a few k more. There is no glamour attached to a super specialist pathologist, patients don’t care, surgeons bother only when its some rare diagnosis, not in line with their expectation. As long as it does not alter their management, whether you call it an obscure variant of a schwannoma or perineurioma, they are really not bothered. Thus it makes little sense for a college management to hire a superspecialist pathologist at a higher salary.
Its a add on to get into government colleges, and counts for points during interview. however again there are no monetary perks involved. In either of the places doing a fellowship will delay your promotion and no way hasten it. MCI does not count fellowships as experience. Corporates might pay more, but again they are looking for somebody who can convince the clinicians about a diagnosis. If an experienced MD only pathologist is available for less, why bother. Bottom lines matter, not the degrees a pathologist has.
My opinion is, if you wish to do a fellowship, do it with a purpose of expanding your knowledge and outlook, you will be certainly richer in terms of your medical knowledge. However, don't expect any spectacular hike in market value, most likely there wont be any.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

hello aspirant,
Since you have not mentioned your Category, i am considering you as a GENERAL Category Student. Looking at the previous year NEET PG Cutoff for general category students, with 47050 rank in NEET PG, you have less chances to get a seat in MD Pathology or Microbiology in any government medical colleges as the cutoff rank for general category is very high. However, you have high chances to get Private or Deemed Universities for MD Pathology or microbiology.
Further, please note that the above mentioned prediction is totally based on the previous year NEET PG Cutoff which may vary every year as it depends on various factors.
THE NEET PG Cutoff marks and percentile score for various category students is mentioned below :
GENERAL >------------------- 50th Percentile >---------------- 275 Marks
SC/ST/OBC >------------------ 40th Percentile >---------------- 245 Marks
GENERAL -PH ------------------ 45th Percentile >---------------- 260 Marks
SC/ST/OBC - PH ------------------------ 40th Percentile >---------------- 245 Marks
The NEET PG Cutoff varies for every year and is different for different category student. The NEET PG Cutoff depends on various factors like :
Number of candidates appearing for the test
The difficulty level of the exam
Seat availability
Further, to know more about the NEET PG Cutoff you can follow the below mentioned link to know more about it in detail : https://medicine.careers360.com/articles/neet-pg-cut-off

Hello aspirant,
The cutoffs for MD pathology for general candidate of 2021 was 34364. So your chances for govt medical college is very less but you can apply for private one. some of the medical colleges are:
CMC- Vellore
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore
KMC - Manipal
ILBS - Delhi
for more colleges, cutoffs and etc go through https://medicine.careers360.com/colleges/ranking/top-private-medical-colleges-in-India
If you are from General Category then it will hard to get admission in top government college but you belong to reserved category ther are good chances for you to get seat in good colleges.
And also availability of seat depend upon number of students appear for Counselling, if seat available till last rounds then there are chances to get seat.
Branch closing rank for courses
All the best!!
