example for cartilage bone? pointwise

Divyanshi Lal 1st Nov, 2020

Hey there,

Cartilage is a special connective tissue. It is a flexible connective tissue that differs from bone in several ways; it is avascular and its microarchitecture is less organized than bone. It is of 3 types:

  1. Hyaline Cartilage
  2. Elastic Cartilage
  3. Fibrous Cartilage

Hyaline Cartilage:

  • The most widespread cartilage type and, in adults, it forms the articular surfaces of long bones, the rib tips, the rings of the trachea, and parts of the skull. This type of cartilage is predominately collagen (yet with few collagen fibers), and its name refers to its glassy appearance.

Elastic Cartilage:

  • Elastic or yellow cartilage contains elastic fiber networks and collagen fibers. The principal protein is elastin.
  • Elastic cartilage is found in the epiglottis (part of the larynx) and the pinnae (the external ear flaps of many mammals, including humans).

Fibrous Cartilage:

  • Fibrous cartilage has lots of collagen fibers (Type I and Type II), and it tends to grade into dense tendon and ligament tissue. White fibrocartilage consists of a mixture of white fibrous tissue and cartilaginous tissue in various proportions.
  • It is the only type of cartilage that contains type I collagen in addition to the normal type II.

Hope it helps.

example for cartilaginous bone

Vivek Kumar 1st Nov, 2020

Hi, your answer; As the name indicates, at a cartilaginous joint, the adjacent bones are united by cartilage, a tough but flexible type of connective tissue. These types of joints lack a joint cavity and involve bones that are joined together by either hyaline cartilage or fibrocartilage.

Hyaline cartilage which is found as the embryonic skeleton, costal cartilages, cartilage of the nose, trachea, lining of the ends of some bones and the larynx. Elastic cartilage which is found in the external ear and epiglottis.

I hope you have got your answer.

Good Luck.

The muscles of anterior abdominal wall is located near midline between the costal margin superiorly and the pubis inferiorly.
The muscles of the anterior abdominal wall perform following functions:
  • protect the contents of the abdominal cavity,
  • to move the trunk and assist in other bodily functions.

It is a pair of muscle present on either side of theLinea alba .
The lateral border of Rectus Abdominis forms the Linea semilunaris .
Origin - Pubic symphysis  and Pubic crest
Functions-
  1. Flexes the trunk
  2. Maintains abdominal wall tone and helps increase intra-abdominal pressure e.g ., forced expiration, coughing etc.
