I got 40 marks in psychology iam BC category can I get seat in ANU

OISHEE BANERJEE 15th Jun, 2025

Hello aspirant

ANU (Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur) recently started its UG Psychology honours program from 2022. Admission is generally based on merit, and they look at your 12th grade marks, you usually need at least 50 percent overall for general candidates and 45 percent if you’re in a reserved category like BC.

Since you have 40 marks in Psychology, they will check your overall percentage in 10+2 along with subject marks. If your total marks meet the required minimum and you fall within the merit list range for BC category applicants, then you may be eligible.

Psychology as a subject is not always mandatory at the +2 level—many colleges accept students from other streams as long as they meet the aggregate score. Some universities even consider entrance exam scores, but ANU doesn’t require one for their honours program.

To improve your chances, make sure your overall percentage is above 45, and then you can apply during the online admissions window. Your application will be ranked based on merit, including seat reservation for BC students.

Hope this helps!

Hello Aspirant,

If you are truly passionate about Psychology, don't worry, even without a background in the area, it is definitely possible to change your academic journey.  Here's what you can do:

  1. Learn the Fundamentals – Reach out into beginner topics in Psychology, such as cognitive, development and social psychology.
  2. Commit your Time – Commit to learning at least 1–2 hours per day in the beginning. As it is new, you will want to be consistent in study and revision in order to grasp the fundamentals.
  3. Construct your Journey – Depending on what level you obtained your degree, you can study a Master's in Psychology after your degree (certain institutes will allow you to apply from any background), or you could think about taking a diploma/certificate course to start with.
  4. Keep Exploring – Read some introductory books about the area such as, “Psychology: The Science of Mind and Behaviour”.
  5. Talk to people –  Connect and converse about psychology with students or practitioners of psychology, so you are enlightened on a range of career possibilities (clinical, counselling, research and so on).

When will BSc psychology classes start this year 2025 and whats the fee structure an requirements

Kishan Bhakat 12th Jun, 2025

hi,

If you are planning to join a BSc Psychology course in 2025, most colleges generally start their classes around June or July after the admission process is completed. The exact starting date can vary slightly from one college to another depending on their academic calendar. For admission, you usually need to have completed your 12th standard with at least 50% marks, and some colleges prefer students who had Biology or related subjects, though many colleges accept students from other streams as well. The fee structure is different for each college. In government or public colleges, the fees are usually affordable, somewhere around twenty to sixty thousand rupees per year. On the other hand, in private universities, the fees can go higher, sometimes up to one lakh or more per year.

I completed my masters in psychology, and presently work as a counselor at an NGO. Suggest some certificate courses in the Art therapy field. Or what courses will be beneficial for me, please suggest?

Anannya sarma 11th Aug, 2025

Being aware of legal boundaries, you could begin with brief, reputable workshops or expressive arts programs connected to universities in order to ethically incorporate art-based techniques into your NGO counselling. Use terms like "facilitator" rather than "therapist."  At the same time, if you want complete professional recognition, think about eventually getting accredited training and expanding your theoretical knowledge through credible books.

hello i had an query about the admission process for Ba in psychology honors is there any entrence exam we have to give for the admission? and can you tell me is the environment safe for students coming from different cities?!

Anushree Thakare 15th Jul, 2025

Hello student,

Many Psychology colleges take direct admission based on merit while some of the top colleges demand entrance exam scores for admission.

You  need to check the admission process of the college in which you are applying and know the entrance tests to prepare for the exams accordingly.

Candidates can secure admission to BA courses through various entrance exams such as CUET, UGC NET, IPUCET, CUET PG, and PUBDET. Each exam has different syllabus and patterns, eligibility, and exam schedules.

CUET is the major exam for admission to BA Psychology and BSc Psychology courses while CUET PG scores are accepted by most government and private colleges for MSc Psychology and MA Psychology admission.
