Why is everybody speaking about branch change whenever there is discussion about Food processing Engineering at IIT Kharagpur?

ayanmukherjee045 12th Feb, 2022

Hello Subbu,

Food processing is considered as a lower branch in all the colleges and if seen from the practical aspect , in india there is very less scope in the food processing stream or in the horeca buisness.

If you want to pursue this career then i would recommend you to kindly look for abroad colleges for your post graduation and if possible kindly change your branch.

But also keep in mind if you are not able to change your branch then it doesn't mean it's a waste doing this degree. After all you are in iit and there are many companies which allows for non core stream even from this branch.

my english speaking is not propper . can i prepare for iimcat?

Swapnali Datkhile 28th Dec, 2021

Hello Aspirant, You can use HINGLISH (the mixture of Hindi & English). However, several SSB board nowadays do not entertain any other language except English. Thus, there is no escape

The best option is to try your best to speak in English . Show your effort at least. In cases where you feel you are stuck in a sentence, you may use Hindi until the point you are comfortable back on track again. If you are a good orator, it is definitely going to make an impact on officers and other aspirants as well. one must understand this that an Orator is not identified by the language, rather he is identified by the communication techniques he uses to influence others.

I belong to Uttar Pradesh. Can i take a government medical college in a non hindi speaking state like Tamil nadu? will there be a language barrier during internship??

Drishti Yadav 30th Jan, 2022

Greetings!!

It totally depends if you are willing to adjust accordingly since Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are not only different as per their geographical location but also as per language , tradition and also as per the food, because when you will be living their you will find that the diet is also different.

while studying teachers will be teaching in English and internships are also not be a problem since you will have to do work mainly but keep in mind that the accent which people from Tamil Nadu have in English is totally different so you will take time to understand their English also.

i want to do english speaking course

Sampurna Nandi 10th Jan, 2022

Hi,

Hope you are doing well!

English speaking skills are defined as the skills which allow us to communicate effectively. They give us the ability to convey information verbally and in a way that the listener can understand. It helps us to improve vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, fluency.Speaking skills are one of the most important skills we learn, as they allow us to communicate with others and express our thoughts and feelings. Speaking skills can be separated into formal and informal speaking skills, and we use both types of speaking skills in a variety of contexts throughout life.

As you want to do english speaking courses, some online courses are-

  • FluentU  is one of the best English learning programs out there.FluentU takes authentic videos—like music videos, movie trailers, news and inspiring talks—and turns them into personalized language learning lessons.
  • Coursera: Improve Your English Communication Skills Specialization.Provided by Georgia Tech, it’s four months long and best suited for beginners.
  • Oxford Online English
  • London School Online-provide Skype English lessons that cover speaking and presentation skills for general use or for the workplace environment.
  • Alison:Speaking And Writing English Effectively. The course will cover some points on how to use language effectively, tips for exams and how to best approach a text.

In addition to learning in some online courses, you should also-

  • Practice speaking English in front of a mirror (or with a friend). Speaking fluently isn’t just about saying the right words. It’s also about body language, tone and confidence. So practice speaking in front of a mirror, paying close attention to your gestures, expressions or posture.
  • You can even have a friend or family member give you feedback. Use a pronunciation app and a voice recorder. The English language has some weird rules and sometimes the best way to know the right pronunciation of a word is to check the dictionary. There are also apps that use voice-recognition software and tell you if you’re pronouncing it the right way or not. You can also record your own voice and play it back to check your progress.
  • Use apps to find native speakers. Services like HelloTalk and Tandem help you find native speakers with whom you can practice your English and get authentic feedback. Watch English media content. Watching English movies or TV shows, especially on Netflix or YouTube, is a good way to immerse yourself in English culture and learn about the aspects of the language that grammar books often miss out on.

Lastly believe in yourself and you can surely improve your english speaking skills within a few months.

Hope this helps.

All the Best for your future.

I got IELTS 6,5.5,6,6 Overall 6 bands.with Bachelors 6.56CGPA Speaking of Canada Universitys .Am i eligible to apply for it?will i get study visa permit. (MAY INTAKE)

pdwords Student Expert 26th Nov, 2021

Hello,

Talking about pursuing higher studies in Canada, first of all you have to make sure that your graduation is of four years duration, then only you can apply for masters, of course there are other factors too taken into consideration regarding the eligibility factor, but four years of bachelor's degree is mandatory, in case you don't have one, then you can go for post graduate diploma courses, these are also quite good options, and skills based program will also help you in career advancement, generally most Canadian Universities prefer overall IELTS score of 6.5 with not less than 6 in any module, there are few selective courses offered in May Intake, most of the courses are offered in September intake and it's an ideal one to apply for higher studies in Canada.
