With the rank of 38,342 under OBC NCL you have a chance to get into NIT. However, the cut off for popular NIT branches like Warangal and NIT Tiruchirappalli is generally below 12,000 or 10,000 for OBC NCL.
I suggest you to apply for new NIT branches like NIT Goa, NIT Puducherry or NIT Delhi. The newer NITs such as NIT Goa, NIT Puducherry, or NIT Delhi often have higher closing ranks, making them more accessible at your rank. You should also consider less popular branches in some established NITs.
