Hello Aspirant,
Science students have multiple avenues available to them after Class 12, based on their individual interests and aspirational career path. Listed below are some of the more common choices:
Hello,
Students from the science stream have a lot of career options after completing their Class 12. Whether a student has taken Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM), or Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB), there are numerous options available depending on the subject combination they are interested in.
Those who have a PCM can go for engineering (B.Tech/B.E), which is one of the most popular choices among students . There are many specialisations in PCM such as Computer Science, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, and Aerospace. Apart from engineering, PCM students can also choose a BSc (Hons) in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Statistics.
While the students who studied PCB often opt for MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing or other medical related fields .But PCB doesn’t only mean becoming a doctor. There are many other courses like BSc Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Botany, Zoology, and Genetics which can lead to careers in research labs, the pharmaceutical industry, and public health. Many universities also offer entrance-based admission to paramedical or allied health science courses through CUET or their separate entrance exam.
If a student has taken both in their class 12 Maths and Biology (PCMB), they can choose from both engineering and medical-related courses. Additionally, they can explore options like Biomedical Engineering, Forensic Science, or Food Technology, which require knowledge from both areas.
There are also growing fields like Data Science, Nutrition & Dietetics, Psychology, and Environmental Studies, which are open to science students depending on their Class 12 subjects combination they have taken.Science stream provides flexibility. One can choose from technical, medical, research-oriented, or even non-traditional fields depending on interest and aptitude.

Thank you and all the best !
With a KCET rank of 150385, you can't get admission to popular colleges in Davangere, but you have an income of 25000, so you can try options in lower cutoff colleges with the help of SNQ or Supernumerary Quota, which helps lower-income students in KCET. Some good colleges in these ranks are Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIET), GM Institute of Technology (GMIT), and Jain Institute of Technology (JIT). Most important, don't lose hope.
Hello aspirant,
This is a very common confusion among students who have appeared for NEET but don’t want to go for MBBS, BDS, or other doctor-related courses. Don’t worry there are many other career options you can choose based on your interest, marks, and counselling rounds.
Even if you don’t want to become a doctor, you can still go for many NEET-based or biology related fields where NEET score may be used, or sometimes not even needed.
Some of the other Course options without NEET or with a Biology Background. If you’re not interested in clinical roles, you can explore:
1. BSc Nursing – A good option, available through a separate entrance or counselling. But some of the central colleges like AIIMS, AFMC, etc.You have to give the NEET, but if you want to take admission in a private or state college, you have to give their entrance exam.
2. BSc in Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry – Research and lab-based roles.
3. BSc Agriculture / Forestry / Horticulture – A Growing field with government and private jobs.
4. B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) – Medicines, drug stores, and the pharma industry.
5. BMLT (Medical Lab Technology) – Hospital lab work and diagnostics.
6. Nutrition & Dietetics – Become a dietician you can work in hospitals or open your own clinic .
7. Clinical Psychology / Forensic Science – For those interested in mental health or investigation roles.
Don’t be disheartened if you can’t or don’t want to become a doctor. The medical and life sciences field is vast, and there are many respected career options.
Best of luck!
