If I do Honours in Chemistry and leave out Physics and Math, then how many subjects will I have and what will they be?

gopi 18th Jun, 2025

Hello Aspirant,

If you are going to take an Honours degree in Chemistry and do not enroll in Physics and Mathematics, your subject structure often will consist of the following.:

  1. Core Subject - Chemistry (Honours Major)
  2. Generic Electives (GE) - Usually two subjects from others fields (other than Physics and Mathematics in your case), such as Botany, Zoology, Environmental Science, and/or Computer Applications etc.
  3. Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC) - Compulsory subjects that are either English or a regional language and Environmental Studies course.
  4. Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) - Practical or job-oriented courses that may be chemistry related.

So overall you would be completing approximately 4 to 5 kinds of subjects; however, Chemistry will be the bulk of courses you undertake. Depending on your university or college, there will be various subjects that you will study.

I Have done my Intermediate in Science Stream from CBSE in 2024(2023-24). There I got 91%. Can I give improvement exam as private candidate in 2026 exam For increasing score in three subjects ?

gopi 18th Jun, 2025

Hello Aspirant,

As a private candidate, yes you can sit for the CBSE Improvement Exam in 2026 only if you satisfy the eligibility criteria of CBSE Examination. Since you have passed your Class 12 (Science Stream) with 91% in 2024, you qualify for improvement if it is in one or more subjects only in the immediate next two years which is 2025 and 2026. According to CBSE guidelines:

  • You can improve All Five Major Subjects or even 1 to 3 Subjects.
  • You can only improve the subjects you wish to.
  • You will have Private Candidate status, and you need to visit CBSE's official portal when the forms are published (most likely October–December).

I Have done my Intermediate in Science Stream in 2024 . There I got 91% . Can I give improvement exam as private candidate in 2026 exam For increasing score in three subjects ?

OISHEE BANERJEE 18th Jun, 2025

Hi! Great job scoring 91% in your 2024 Intermediate Science exams.

Yes, if you're aiming to improve your marks in three subjects, most boards (like CBSE and many state boards) allow improvement exams within 2 years of your original pass year. So, since you passed in 2024, you should be eligible to appear for improvement exams in 2026.

You can appear as a private candidate if your board allows that for improvement. Just make sure to check the specific rules of your board when the 2026 improvement exam notification comes out. They will mention how many subjects you're allowed to improve and the registration dates.

Also, keep in mind that only the latest marks are usually considered valid—so if your score goes down in improvement, that lower score may be counted.

All the best!

SEJAL JAIN 18th Jun, 2025

Hello

Yes, you can take admission in BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) even if you have low NEET marks or did not qualify NEET, depending on the college or state.

  • Many private colleges and state universities offer BPT courses without requiring NEET.

  • These colleges often conduct direct admissions based on:

    • 12th PCB marks (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

    • Personal interview

    • State-level entrance (if applicable)
