can i get ipu 20k rank clat with defence quota

Prachi Kumari 16th Dec, 2025

Hello,

With a CLAT rank around 20,000 , getting a seat in top IPU law colleges like USLLS or VIPS is very unlikely , even with defence quota. In past years, these colleges usually closed at much lower ranks.

However, IPU has a 5% defence quota , which can help you get a seat at a higher rank than general category candidates. With defence quota, you may have a chance in lower-preferred IPU law colleges in later counselling rounds (sliding or spot rounds).

So, at 20k CLAT rank with defence quota :

  • Top IPU law colleges → Not possible

  • Other IPU-affiliated law colleges → Possible in later rounds

  • Seat is not guaranteed , depends on vacancies and your defence priority

You should participate in all counselling rounds and keep defence documents ready to improve your chances.

You can also use our CLAT College Predictor Tool to predict which colleges you can get based on your score and rank.

Hope it helps !

Ailet marks 113 Will I get a seat in general merit or obc

Sachin 20th Dec, 2025

Hello aspirant ,

With 113 marks in AILET , getting a seat in the general category at NLU Delhi is unlikely , as general cutoffs are usually higher. However , if you belong to the OBC-NCL category , you may have a chance , depending on the year cutoff , rank list and seat availability . Final admission depends on counselling rounds , so it is important to participate and wait for official cutoffs.

I got 85 marks I clat 2026 which nlu I get

Ayshwarya Mahadevan 16th Dec, 2025

If you have scored around 85 marks in CLAT 2026, you have a fair chance of getting admission into some of the mid to lower tier National Law Universities, depending on factors like your category, domicile reservation, women quota and the overall difficulty level of the paper this year.

With a score of 85, general category candidates usually have better chances in NLUs such as NLU Odisha (Cuttack), NLU Assam (Guwahati), NLU Ranchi, NLU Raipur, NLU Patiala, NLU Shimla, NLU Aurangabad, NLU Trichy or NLU Visakhapatnam. If you belong to a reserved category like SC, ST, OBC, EWS, or have domicile or women reservation, your chances improve further and you may also be considered for comparatively better NLUs within the same score range.

Top NLUs like NLSIU Bengaluru, NALSAR Hyderabad, WBNUJS Kolkata, NLUD Delhi, NLU Jodhpur and GNLU Gandhinagar generally require much higher scores, so getting into these with 85 marks would be difficult under the general category. However, cutoffs change every year based on seat matrix, number of applicants, reservation policies and counselling rounds, so nothing can be ruled out completely until the counselling process ends.

You should participate in CLAT counselling, fill as many preferences as possible in a realistic order, and stay active through all rounds, including vacancy and spot rounds if announced. Many candidates secure seats in later rounds due to withdrawals.

Overall, 85 is a decent score and gives you a reasonable chance of securing an NLU seat, especially in mid or newer NLUs. Stay positive, plan your preferences wisely, and keep checking counselling updates regularly. All the best.

I got 51 marks in clat, st category jharkhand domicile

Sankalp Agrawal 16th Dec, 2025

Hello,

With 51 marks in CLAT, ST category, and Jharkhand domicile, your chances in top NLU are low, but you may have a possibility in lower or newer NLU, especially those offering ST reservation or state domicile quota if available. Final admission will depend on your category rank, seat matrix, and counselling rounds.

Sir I wanted to give mhcet law and I want my all time favorite college GLC mumbai and rizwi law college bandra which has affordable fees as well as it nearer to me . So I just wanted to ask that please provide me the best information for mhcet law . And also all the best books for preparation of cet law and also how paper comes the method and timings also

Ayshwarya Mahadevan 16th Dec, 2025

MHCET Law (MAH CET Law) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the State CET Cell, Maharashtra, for admission to 3-year and 5-year LLB courses in government, aided, and unaided law colleges in the state. Colleges like Government Law College (GLC) Mumbai and Rizvi Law College are among the top and most preferred options because of their academic reputation, experienced faculty, affordable fees, and strong alumni base.

About the exam pattern, MHCET Law is a computer-based test. For the 5-year LLB, the paper usually consists of around 150 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 120 minutes. The sections include Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning, General Knowledge with Current Affairs, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, English, and Basic Mathematics. For the 3-year LLB, the exam pattern is similar but without the Mathematics section, and the focus is slightly more on legal reasoning and general awareness. Each question generally carries one mark, there is no negative marking, and speed with accuracy is very important.

Regarding preparation strategy, start by understanding the syllabus and exam pattern clearly. Legal aptitude should be your top priority, as it carries significant weightage and helps in differentiating ranks. Practice legal reasoning questions daily to improve comprehension and application of legal principles. For general knowledge and current affairs, make it a habit to read newspapers regularly and revise important national and international events, legal news, and static GK. Logical reasoning requires consistent practice of puzzles, syllogisms, assumptions, and arguments. For English, focus on reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar basics, and sentence correction. If you are appearing for the 5-year LLB exam, revise basic mathematics topics like percentages, profit and loss, averages, ratios, and simple interest.

For books, you can rely on standard law entrance preparation material that covers legal aptitude and reasoning clearly with practice questions. Books for logical reasoning and general aptitude are also useful, along with a good current affairs compilation for the exam year. Solving previous years’ question papers and taking mock tests is extremely important, as it helps you understand the difficulty level, manage time better, and identify your weak areas.

As for timings and exam schedule, the notification for MHCET Law is usually released in the first half of the year, with the exam conducted a few months later. After the results, centralized counselling (CAP rounds) is conducted where seats are allotted based on rank, category, domicile status, and college preference. To get into top colleges like GLC Mumbai or Rizvi Law College, you need a strong score and a good rank, especially under the Maharashtra domicile category.

If you prepare consistently, focus on legal reasoning and current affairs, and practice mock tests regularly, you will have a good chance of securing admission in your preferred law college. All the best.

Can i get any government law college in West Bengal?

Ayshwarya Mahadevan 16th Dec, 2025

Yes, you can get admission to a government law college in West Bengal, but it mainly depends on your eligibility, entrance exam score, category, and domicile status.

In West Bengal, the main government institutions offering law courses include the Department of Law, University of Calcutta (Hazra Campus) and the Department of Law, University of North Bengal. These are well-known government universities that offer 3-year LLB programmes, and Calcutta University also offers a 5-year integrated BA LLB through affiliated government colleges.

Admission to government law colleges in West Bengal is usually done through a Common Law Admission Test conducted at the state level or through university-level entrance exams. For Calcutta University and its affiliated colleges, admission is typically based on merit or an entrance test announced by the university. You must have completed graduation with the required minimum percentage (generally around 45 percent for General category, with relaxation for reserved categories) to be eligible for the 3-year LLB course.

Competition for government law colleges is quite high because of low fees and good academic reputation, so higher marks in graduation or a good entrance exam score improve your chances. If you have West Bengal domicile, it can be an added advantage as some seats are reserved for state candidates.

If you do not get a seat in the first round, you should still participate in further counselling rounds, as seats may become available later. Also, keep checking university notifications regularly so you do not miss application or counselling dates.

All the best.

I m scoring 74 marks in clat Obc category Bihar domicile Is it possible to get cnlu

Ayshwarya Mahadevan 16th Dec, 2025

With a CLAT score of around 74 marks, OBC category, and Bihar domicile, you do have a fair chance of getting admission to Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, but it cannot be considered fully guaranteed.

CNLU offers domicile-based reservation for Bihar candidates along with category reservation, which works in your favour. In previous years, the closing scores for OBC Bihar domicile candidates at CNLU have generally been lower than the All India OBC cut-offs. A score in the low to mid-70s has often remained competitive for state quota seats, especially by later rounds of counselling.

However, CLAT cut-offs vary every year depending on factors like the difficulty level of the paper, number of applicants, seat matrix, and counselling trends. If the paper is comparatively easier or competition is higher, cut-offs may rise slightly.

You should definitely participate in CLAT counselling and keep CNLU Patna high in your preference list. At the same time, it is advisable to also include other NLUs where OBC category cut-offs are slightly lower, so that you have backup options in later rounds.

Keep checking counselling updates and seat allotment rounds carefully, as many candidates get seats after withdrawals in subsequent rounds.

All the best.
