Hello there,

With 85.27 percentile in JEE Mains and an OBC rank of around 22,500 , qualifying for JEE Advanced is unlikely, as the cutoff for OBC is usually higher (around 88-90 percentile ).

What Should You Do?

  1. If aiming for IITs – Retake JEE Mains in the April attempt, target 95+ percentile to clear the Advanced cutoff.

  2. If looking for NITs/IIITs – With your rank, getting a good NIT/IIIT branch is tough. Improve your score in the second attempt.

  3. Consider State Colleges – Check state-level counseling (like Josaa, state quota seats) where you might get decent colleges.

    Recommendation:

Reattempt JEE Mains in April with better preparation to improve percentile and secure a stronger college option.

With 85.27 percentile in JEE Mains and a rank of approximately 22,500 (OBC category) , qualifying for JEE Advanced depends on the official cutoff. If eligible, attempting JEE Advanced is a good option for IIT aspirations. However, if your goal is NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs , retaking JEE Mains in the next session could help improve your score and secure a better institute or branch. Analyze your strengths, assess past performance, and decide based on your target colleges and courses.

Hello,

Based on your 85.27 percentile and an approximate rank of 22,500 in the OBC category:

  1. JEE Advanced Eligibility : The expected cutoff for OBC candidates to qualify for JEE Advanced 2025 is around 79.67 percentile. Your percentile suggests you are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

  2. Admission Prospects : With a rank of 22,500, securing seats in top NITs or IIITs may be challenging. However, newer NITs or IIITs might have available seats for your rank.

  3. Considerations :

    • Preparation Level : Assess your readiness for JEE Advanced; if confident, proceed.
    • Alternative Options : Explore state engineering colleges or private institutions where your current rank is competitive.
    • Improvement : If aiming for premier institutes, consider reattempting JEE Main to improve your score.

Ensure to verify the official cutoffs and stay updated with counseling processes to make informed decisions.

Hope you find it useful !
