The Common Rank List (CRL) for JEE Main is the list of all the qualifying candidates for the test, jointly with their respective ranks. In JEE Main CRL, a student's rank is determined by their exam scores relative to all other test takers, regardless of their category.

If you receive a superior branch through your category reservation rather than your all India rank, your category rank—which is based on both CRL and category rank—will be taken into consideration in the end.

Your category rank is crucial as it will usually help you get into a higher college with a better branch because your all-India rank will be high due to category reservation.
