if you are doing civil engineering from some IIT's or NIIT's , then if you get a good job , you can start working,

but if you want more, you can apply for GATE examination, that can lead you to PSU jobs , if you score very well after studying for MTech degree from some good institution

PSU's can get you a good salary , and if not PSU, you may get a better job at some other companies.
