Both BDO and Revenue officer have their own operating area. A BDO oversees the operations of panchayati raj institutions at the block level. He collaborates closely with the chairperson of the panchayat samiti. A Revenue Officer is essentially the tahsildar, and his job is to administer the tahasil's revenue. Both are meant to serve the people in their individual capacities rather than wielding power.

They are both officers of the same rank. They also have comparable responsibilities.
