Hello Aspirant!

  • The EWS category refers to the Economically Weaker  Section and is a subcategory consisting of people from the General Category who have an annual income less than 8,00,000 INR. These people don't belong to SC/ST/OBC categories.
  • The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recently issued a statement saying that the EWS reservation will be effective from the session 2019-20 for admissions into dental, medical, pharmacy and nursing institutes.
  • The qualifying cut-off for EWS candidates  is same as the non- EWS UR candidates, ie, 50 percentile.
  • But seats will be reserved for them.
  • Only few institutionshave been excluded from this reservation for EWS candidates.
    • So in a nutshell, yes, EWS candidates do have a little bit of advantage over non-EWS candidates.
