Hope you are doing well.
So, for pursuing PhD in India, you need to qualify the University Grant Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET). Every Government institute and many Private Institute shortlist students on the basis of NET. Also, if you wish to pursue PhD from IIMs, you need to give CAT and score above 90 percentile and apply to each IIMs FPM programme in order to get shortlisted.
Further, for pursuing PhD from foreign universities like California, Harvard or MIT, you need to qualify GMAT or GRE with good rank and then apply separately at each universities.
