Maharashtra government has now cancelled the 70% regional quota for medical seats this session onward ie from 2020-21

Earlier the state of Maharashtra had been divided into three regions- Marathwada, Vidarbha and Rest of Maharashtra (RoM). This meant that 70% of the seats were only for the locals of these particular areas. The rest 30% seats were open to candidates of other areas of maharashtra.

Now as this reservation has been removed, this means that these seats are now open based only on the NEET merit, not locality. These seats are ought to be distrubuted among all other categories (including UR) as per the criteria decided by the state government. Seats are bound to increase naturally, for all categories.
